My Amilo D is now in its 3rd year at home, and its really started to become a liability. Just over a year after the purchase, the video card went on the blink. One can barely see the screen when running on battery, so its lived most of its life "off the mains" (a PC can do that). Some months ago I tried to find a new role for it at home - as an internet server, so I purchased the appropriate PCMCIA card to surf the web at a snail's crawl, having decided to sever my jacked-up ADSL umbilical cord with the lousy landline telephone service provider.
The Amilo D's network hardware doesn't work; installed and reinstalled drivers, so I cannot link it to my PC via Cat 5 or wireless.
I'm thinking about converting the whole mess into a frisbee, with a launch in the not too distant future from my 2nd floor home office:(If it works well, I will hand the patent over to the folks at Wham-O)
The AMILO D Series is a powerful entry-level notebook offering performance at an affordable price. Clear and sharp XGA displays and a built-in DVD or Combo DVD-CD/RW drive satisfy your everyday work needs. But Fujitsu Siemens has also thought about after-hours fun. A FireWire port makes it possible to connect to external devices such as a camera or other external data storage devices. You can connect to a TV through the standard S-Video port for the ultimate home theatre experience. This member of the Fujitsu Siemens notebook line offers the latest Intel processors.
