Advantages: All the features, very reliable
Disadvantages: The sound, battery life
I had this laptop two Chrsitmas's again now, and its still going strong. It was pretty cheap for a laptop, and the specs are decent- 80GB hard drive which is big enough for all my applications, work, music and a few games too; 512Mb of RAM; a pretty big screen (sorry, i don't know how big exactly!); a CD / DVD burner and player. It comes with Windows XP home edition already installed and can apparently handle Vista although I haven't tried yet.
The laptop itself is compact and attractive. The lid is silver with a black part in the centre which also reads "Fujitsu Siemens Computers". The laptop is light compared with others on the market, and is thin too. Great for taking it everywhere with you!
Inside, the screen is a great size, and the surround is black with black rubber pads to aid it when it closes. Very user friendly. I find this laptop also boots up much faster than others I have tried, which is great. The keyboard is a reasonable size, and I find it quite easy to type using it. Infact, i'm typing this on it! The keys are black with white (and blue) betters / numbers on them. They are very clear to read. However, one of my keys (the down arrow) has come off, but I do think that was just because of the age and the fact i'm on it all the time. I think it would be easy to fix but i cannot comment on that as i have loast a vital piece of the key. Nevermind! On the plus side, if i key does break off, it is still useable, i still use my down arrow.
The mousepad is rectangle shape and is gray along with the mouse buttons. It is very easy to use, but if you want to use a mouse it is easily done with the 3 USB ports avalible on this laptop.
The battery life is about an hour, but i must warn you, if you use it a lot, the battery life does decrease which is a bit of a pain as mine only lasts a couple of minutes without the AC adaptor now. When the battery life is low, it gives you a warning in a little bubble that comes up 5 minutes before it dies, if you leave it to long it will turn off. A good thing about this, is if you have any documents open and didn't save, you will be able to retrieve them when you get back on.
The sound quality isn't that good if im honest, even top volume is quite quiet, but it is okay if you are on you're own and not with people who are louder than the actual thing. The speaker is in the to left of the laptop. I've also been told by friends that the sound is too "tinny" which is true. A real shame as the rest of the laptop is great.
The fan in this laptop isn't great, it is only a little thing and unfortunatly mine did break. They are extremly hard to get rid of, and i think this is the same for most parts of the laptop. It did cost me a bit to get a replacment.
Overall though, i do thing this is a pretty nifty laptop and reliable too. Cheap to by and has a good variety of features. Its worth it!
Summary: A great laptop.

- 29/12/08 It would go much faster with more memory. You could double it with an extra 512Mbs which you could get from Crucial for about £8. |
