Hey there, I bought the Amile 1640 from a Swiss vendor advertising it as a 64-bit Laptop . The reality is, though, that the AMD Mobile Sempron processor that the computer has is in fact NOT a 64-bit processor, the desktop semron 3000+ is, but not the mobile... So, this is a great discouragement, and I may ask to send it back, but I ll tell you some of the reviews I hae for this model. There did not seem to be any BIOS settings that would improve the situation and no BIOS updates have ever been issued by Fujitsu -Siemens for this model, that I am aware of. The power management never worked properly at all and the machine would not resume from hibernation or standby and had to be manually re-booted each time. Disabling power management in the BIOS and in Windows XP did not prevent the machine going into standby/hibernation so the problem was constant.
