When I saw that the Fujitsu Lifebook C1020 was one of the most wanted products for review on dooyoo I was a bit surprised. However seeing the price that it is available for I guess it is not surprising. I purchased the laptop when it first came out and was very pleased at how fast and efficiently it worked. What you must consider now with this review is that the technology used to power it is now very out of date.
The laptop isn't the lightest of devices weighing in at 6.4lbs but as you generally find with heavier devices it is a very sturdy device. Memory wise it is a small 20gb hard drive and will not be suitable for storing music or film collections. But this certainly should not put off as portable hard drives are reasonably cheap and may prove a suitable solution.
RAM wise the standard model comes with 256mb which by today's standards is very low. Thankfully the lifebook can be upgraded to a more reasonable 1GB of RAM which will significantly improve performance. Keep in mind that if you are used to using a more modern computer it is likely you will be extremely frustrated by its performance. Indeed this laptop can be seen as old in the fact that it still has a floppy disc drive. Most young people probably won't even know what they are.
Battery life wise will obviously depend on whether you have purchased one brand new (unlikely) or second hand. Generally speaking I was lucky to get an hour of use before it needed to be recharged when it knew so factor this in if you are considering to use it a lot away from a power source. However it can be said that replacement batteries can be picked up relatively cheap.
While I have to say that my Lifebook is up in the roof space somewhere the person most likely to benefit from one is a young child. It is more than suitable for word processing and browsing the internet and would be significantly cheaper to acquire than a brand new notebook.
