Advantages: cheap.
Disadvantages: not very reliable, screens are the first thing to go, parts are hard to find
back in the day, these laptops were the latest thing to hit the office, and in green they looked very different to the norm.
they came with pentium 2 processors, some were upgraded to 128mb ram so you could run windows xp on them, cdrom or floppy drives. the floppy drive was an external device which connected to the parallel port at the back of the laptop.
one thing I noticed about these laptops was that the power supply was builtin to the battery port, or the power supply could be use as a conventional power supply and plug it into the dc jack on the side.
the screens were very good looking, very small thin frame made the screen look larger than life. even though it was only a 13.3" screen it still provided a resolution of 1024x768.
they are light even compared to todays laptops.
one problem which I noticed was that the screens can go very prematurely on these laptops, this was one of the reasons I had to get rid of mine, if it wasn't for the screen I would still be using this laptop!
these kind of laptops are good for kids, or students. or if you use your laptop for basic stuff like word processing or browsing the web then get an old laptop, do your bit for the environment and save money at the same time!
Summary: cheap and cheerful.
