      A Good basic laptop.

This was the first laptop i owned for my own personal laptop and at first i didnt really use it for much except from coursework and occasional gameplay, which meant this laptop had no struggles with what seems such a low amount of usage.

i would say that this laptop is a reasonable laptop, i have owned it for 7 years and it still runs, albeit a bit slower than first, it has had the its share of the problems mainly battery and charger but also software problems. but every time it has pulled through,

i would recommend this laptop to someone who is just looking for a cheap laptop for the kids to mess about on, or just for a laptop to use in between replacing them or even if you are just training someone how to use a laptop then this is perfect.

the obvious problems with this laptop is that it has low specifications which means it can't really compete with the newer laptops of today, but that is just down to age.

      Pleasant little office helper

I've got mine 'free' after taking out a contract phone with dial-a-phone with following spec:

Operating system - Genuine Windows VistaTM Home Basic 32
      Processor - Intel® CeleronM T2050 1.77 GHz 2 MB L2 cache 533 MHz
      Memory- 512 MB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM - 533-MHz with 667-MHz
Memory upgrade - Upgradeable to 2 GB maximum

Hard drives - 80 GB 5400 rpm SATA
Optical Drives - DVD/CD-RW combo - DVD+/-RW SuperMulti with Double Layer

Display size - 15.4-inch WXGA Brightview
Graphics cards - Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 with up to 224 MB shared system

      Network - Intel 82562GT 10/100 Network Connection
      Wireless - Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG; Broadcom 802.11 b/g

Generally, after few amendments I am pleased with it as far as office use and few puzzles in between are concerned.
Firstly, I reverted to Windows XP. There was no way it would have run smoothly otherwise. Then I put extra 512MB memory in and that way it is a next to pleasurable experience.

Thanks to Intels own graphic card you will be lucky to get joy at a more complicated game than tetris or manage multilayer graphic design BUT the screen is bright and rich in colours, basic graphics are handled very well.

With this computer it seems like a very good idea to do disk cleanup and defragmentation and if you do that you onto pretty much plain sailing as long as you're not handling 5 applications at a time.

Despite battery not holding very long and lack of latch to lock screen in to main body when closed, the mouse is comfortable, functions as they should be and it has been running error free since I got it despite being on almost 24/7.

Perfect for a person on a tight budget

        HP 530(Core 2 Duo version)

The specs of the laptop are as follows
Operating system - Genuine Windows VistaTM Home Basic 32

        Processor - Intel® CoreTM Duo processor T2050 1.60 GHz 2 MB L2
cache 533 MHz front side bus.
        Memory- 512 MB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM - 533-MHz with 667-MHz
Memory upgrade - Upgradeable to 2 GB maximum

Hard drives - 80 GB 5400 rpm SATA

        Wireless - Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG; Broadcom 802.11 b/g

For the price i paid for this laptop i got more than i barganed for,the screen is excellent with the Brightview technology,A DVD Writer and 80gb Sata Hard Drive all for just £350 from ebuyer.

First thing i noticed when i opened the box was the size of the laptop it is quite and quite heavy, It came preloaded with windows vista basic edition all i needed to do was enter what username i wanted.

The main things th HP have done wrong is they have only put 512 DDR2 in to this laptop and i think that this is not enough for windows vista to run smoothly, would be ok for Windows Xp .After a few days i upgraded the memory of the laptop to 2gb ddr2 this is very easy and was cheap only £30. After i did this the laptop was perfect.

The touch pad is made from the same plastic the case and i think it is very good. The Graphics are Intel GMA 950 with a maximum resolution of 1280 x 800 will handles videos ok but will not be enough for games. The wireless on the laptop works about 80metres away from my router which is excellent range i would say. If the 530 had more connections on it such as memory card reader i think it would be perfect but you get what you pay for i suppose.

After testing the DVD Writer i found that it failed a lot of times using Nero Express it also failed using the HP Backup Software,Worked perfect when tryiing to copy music disk. The Lid on my laptop has got 2 scratches after only 2 month of using. One more problem i have found with this laptop is that the power cable is in the wrong place always seems to be in the way.

i would reccomend getting this laptop if you are on a tight budget and if you are not botherd about the size of the laptop(would reccomend Ram Upgrade).

Also the laptop lid seems to scratch or chip easily i have alredy got 2 scratches on it on the lid of the laptop going to have to buy a LapJack Cover for it

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Good basic laptop

        Hello all,
I work at several large computer superstores and have access to them all on a daily basis. I Have not purchased these laptops but I instead work with them in order to bring

you the highest quality consumer based reviews. I sometimes ask the opinions of my staff and also of customers to bring you up to speed.
So without further interuption here is my review on the HP 530

Well this is power value and for just about £300

        DESIGN

BASIC BASIC BASIC is the words but the build quality is high and it looks like a rather expensive machine and it was very popular at recent months. Especially to thoose in

university and thoose that need a basic cheap laptop.

        PERFORMANCE

Its not slow but it wont win awards. In fact it was quite nippy dispite the poor and outdated Intel Celeron Chip and the meager RAM of 512mb. It wont be runing Adobe CS3

anytime soon but Microsoft Office will run and so will other less demmanding programs. Even some older games will run but you wont be through the roof with the frame

rates either. The saying " you gets what you pay for" springs to mind. Not bad and great value for the price point.

        SCREEN

The screen is good and you cant fault it for the price. Its pretty good, for thoose who are wondering its 15.4 inches which is about right. Its rather clear and sharp but again

        wont win awards.

        EXTRAS

Not much but everything you'd expect on a basic laptop but it has most of the ports you'd need and wifi so no annoing cards or sticks needed.

        CONCLUSION

If you want a first laptop or a simple one as your first computer this is it and would do everything required for university and most jobs.
Quite nippy to be honest so my personal opinion is to purchase this laptop if it suits your needs.
