Around five years ago I was shopping around, and discovered a popular deal at Carphone Warehouse, where I could renew my AOL broadband contract and get a free laptop chucked in! I actually thought the offer was too good to be true, but to be fair, although I could have shopped around and got a better broadband deal elsewhere, I had been with AOL for quite a long time and was not inclined to change providers, and the thought of a brand new, shiny laptop was a big pull to me (As was the £50 Quidco payout at the time too I recall!)
This laptop is a very nice looking laptop - a black plastic keyboard that is firm to touch, I like it.. a nice clear screen and a metallic silver lid/case. It looks and feels nice, and when it was brand new I would have happily displayed it in any room of the house, I was very proud of it!
The RRP at the time for this laptop was around £300.
This lappy ran on Windows Vista, which was very new out at the time, the nice thing about Vista I thought was that it didn't seem to different to XP, so it really was a case of, open it up and get started..
It was installed with 2MB Ram, which was more than fast enough at the time, downloads always felt quick, uploading photos and files onto it was easy.
I am not the most techy of people, but I know the way around my computers, I know what I want them to do and I know when things go wrong.. this machine seemed really good to me (and to my husband who decided that he wanted to keep it for himself.... hmmmm, many a silent battle went on about that I can tell you!!)
I like to surf the internet, check my emails, I like to enter competitions - which can slow the computer down, but in fairness to this machine it coped pretty well. I use moneysavingexpert's competition section, which is an open forum - and regulary would have 6 or 7 pages open at any given time, again - on the whole the lappy coped very well.
The charger needed replacing after about 18 months, which is a shame, as they are exceptionally expensive to buy, unless you buy an aftermarket one from Ebay or similar - that said the aftermarket ones are only £4 or £5 so although they only last a couple months, you don't really object to paying out for one.
After five years we realised that you couldn't use the laptop unless it was charging and plugged into the mains, the battery had given up on life - the cost of a new battery was near £45 so at that point when the charger also needed replacing again, along with the fact that it looked like I had picked up a virus/trojan from somewhere, we packed the lappy up and put it in the back of the cupbaord.. I found a new mobile phone/laptop deal from carphone warehouse and we said thank you to the original lappy for its sterling service.
Or so we thought! original lappy would just not accept being put in a cupboard - Nobody puts Original in the corner!" and I searched ebay and happily found that I could get a brand new aftermarket battery and charger for under £25 - that along with a Windows XP disc hanging around has got original back in action once more - pretty much as good as new!!
In conclusion, had I paid for this at the time, it would have been money well spent... a great lappy

I was bought this prodeuct a few years back and at first it was a great product. but after about 6 months it slowed down and became annoying to use. i restored it, defraged the disk ect but no luck it still was annoying to use. the fan does not work well and the laptop heats up so quickly. one time i actually burnt my leg from where it was so hot. it freezes all the time take about 5 mins to be ready to use. overall i would not tell people to buy this product as i have not had a good experience with it. i now wish that i was not given this as a present. i have had to take it to a computer shop to get fixed but even then it came back no different. altogether i would never have another laptop like this i would personally pay out more money and get a decent laptop that will work great for years.
The hewlett packard compaq 6720s is a sturdy laptop, the lid / screen has no fastening's or latches which has both pros and cons. the main pro for this is that the chances of breaking the screen because you open one latch and lifted while the other is still locked in place (which i did with an ibm thinkpad) is slim the main con for this is the dust get onto the screen even when laptop is put away. I think this laptop is mainly aimed at people who just want to use it for work, the hard drive is only 80gb so once the os is on and any office suite that you favour is installed then nearly or over a quarter is already used. it is not fantasticly fast it only has a 1.7ghz cpu again this is perfect for kids doing homework on and doing office work on keep it defragmented and it will run perfectly fine for surfing the net, office work, homework, even watching catch up tv (when you change the performance setting that is to full) i did find a draw back the battery is small is power on full performance it runs down in 45 mins, and i have had mine for a year and already the battery is suffering from memory lag
The HP 6720s is a slim laptop which is easy to use and has good performance. The only problems we have had reported is that the keyboard can be a bit flimsy at times, when you press keys on a certain side of the laptop you will notice the whole keyboard moving as if it is bending, we've also had reports of the Mouse buttons becoming worn unless you press them in the centre they can sometimes be a bit tempramental and the rubber flaking off which makes the laptop look a bit old and overworked.
The actual performance and look of the laptop is great, it's slim and light enough to carry around but large enough to be able to use for excel documents (which always seems to be a challenge on the smaller machines). The battery life is good as you'd expect from a HP lasting approximately 3 hours.
I found the HP Compaq Business Notebook very easy to use and to set up. The speed of the internet and uploading/downloading is very good which fits very nicely into my lifestyle. The laptop of slim and light which makes it easy to carry around when on the move. The screen is wide enough to compete with some of the other top brands and newest laptops on the market. I have had no problems so far with the amount of space on the laptop and it seems like I could keep downloading files/photos/videos for a very long time, without it affecting the computers speed or response. Although this is my first laptop, I consider it to be a very decent one, compared to some of the feedback I have heard from some of my fellow colleagues about their laptop's and how theirs are constantly breaking down or not performing to their full ability.
Experience of having business series, why?
lets have a look on some description.
Here is some my experience and suggestions about a popular product from hp.
HP is a old player in notebook market and best competitor for Apple Macbook.
Some time ago the most popular product from hp in business series was its 6710, and now again a upgraded version of that in market.
It is more complicated to survive in portable computer market with old configurations.
So that having strong ambition toward creating better well known brand in the field, hp again put its most effort to give a latest technology and configuration to its customers.
As I have described in my previous Dell laptops reviews that they have well known service to give a chance to its customers of selecting desired configurations.
It is most desirable and customer friendly solution to meet their requirements.
HP also has these kinds of customization service so that mostly we meet our solutions with as per norms.
Now I will share some of my experiences about the notebook, and its configuration.
First always refer the processor
Processor is considered as main priority on every laptop, or personal computers, because the mind of computing devices is a processor.
Hp also have good range of choices to select a better processor as higher level as well as budget level also.
Starting from higher level choice but not as much as Apple providing in its Macbook that is Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo Processor T8100 (2.1 GHz of clock speed , 800 MHz FSB( front side bus), and 3 MB L2 cache).
Here I have to mention that as my opinion T8100 processor is a best choice for laptop, not more costly as consider to 2.6Ghz that is much costly, but there is not a sense to pay so much for little bit more speed and L2 cache.
The other choice is Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo Processor T5470 (1.6 GHz of clock speed, 800 MHz FSB, and 2 MB L2 cache).
It is also a better choice to laptop as considering budget choice and mostly peoples choose it as priority level.
The last cheap option for processor as dual core family is Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo Processor T5270 (1.4 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 cache), it is not so bad having good process speed and better value for money as well.
There is Celeron series choice also available but there is no mean to having that because if you are considering to buy a business series laptop and wants to put Celeron, that is out dated processor in multi core era of processor.
But you can have a look on that as well.
Intel® Celeron® Processor 550 (2.0 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 1 MB L2 cache)
And another option of Celeron series is Intel® Celeron® Processor 540 (1.86 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 1 MB L2 cache).
Now the target of consideration is on operating system
The most common choice available is Windows Vista, and ofcourse this laptop is a business series and you will get Business version of Vista.
Available choice is in both 32 bit and 64 bit.
Genuine Windows Vista® Business 32bit and the another one is Genuine Windows Vista® Business 64 downgrade to Genuine Windows® XP Professional 64.
Now the time to explain Random Access Memory
There are two types of memory on which computer works, one is RAM and another is ROM.
RAM is a temporary support for data and works only when power is on, if we put off to power, than it will loss its data.
So as a live process we need RAM and it is more important factor with processor to provide better computing speed and accessibility.
Here is a broad choice available to select memory and that are lower level to higher level, 512 MB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, second one is 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, and available last option they are providing is 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
But we can also upgrade it to 4 GB, in two DIMM slot (2GB in each slot).
For better performance in latest 3D applications, a better graphics card and higher memory are mandatory.
If you are planning to run software like Maya or 3ds max than choose 4 GB of RAM and good graphics card.
Another part that is in my top priority of consideration is Graphics card.
Here is hp failed compete with Dell and Apple in the field of graphics choice.
They are providing traditional graphics option Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, with up to 384 MB shared system memory; shared memory is taken by RAM.
The best graphics card has a dedicated memory, and if there is chances to more graphic memory that it will capture or share it from RAM.
As a graphics level it will provide good graphics option but not best.
It is also a considerable option but generally 200GB or more capacity hard drive is good for selection.
SSD drive is a latest available best trustable choice, but it is very costly and every one can't afford this.
But if you want to have a better trustable option than it will be right choice.
SSD not available in option category, u can purchase it as you level.
Optical drive is common to all available notebooks that are Light Scribe DVD+/-RW Super Multi with Double Layer.
There is no any point to explain this.
Battery and its run time
Almost every company providing 6 cell lithium-Ion battery as a primary level, and the back-up time is more or less 2 hours.
The business 6720 also has that traditional battery, and the back-up time is always up to 2 hors.
If you are considering for better back-up battery than it will be bad option to adopt 6 cell battery.
At last conclusion
As a 3D graphics designing and higher gaming experience, it will be bad choice, and if you are planning to full fill your general requirements than it is good.
I will never recommend it for thrilling gaming experience, and good graphics result.
If we consider some product of other manufacturer than hp business 7620 failed to compete with them.
Over all it is good with solid construction and good configuration level.
This is my first Laptop and it's fanstastic. It's loaded with Windows Vista which I find so easy to use!
The laptop has 2GB memory which is enough for me, teh lapton is bluetooth enabled and ou can plug a memory card in to upload photo's.
It's not too heavy or bulky and use it any where round the house. It's also wireless enabled so its so easy to connect up.
The only disadvantage is the sound volume isn't great, I wouldn't mind if i could get it slightly louder.
The installtion was easy peasy. Luckily most of the hardware and software was pre-installed.
The battery lif is great, it lasts around 2.5 hrs on powersaving mode. The screen dims on this saving battery life. you can change this to a higher optimum but does decrease the battery life.
The layoiut is fine and very easy to get used too. A fab laptop with great fuctions.
HP Compaq Business Notebook 6720s
This is only my second lappie and the first for some years and I have been delighted with its slim profile, excellent quality screen (videos, YouTube and pictures appear very realistic) and the speed with which it recharges. I love the HP brand and having looked at other makes I came back to my first choice as I know the customer support available is excellent and I have never been disappointed with an HP product, even those at the low end of the market.
The battery life is not very long but a bigger one can be bought and as there are three power settings that you can choose you can decide how to utilise the available power.
The memory is ample for my basic needs, although it has come pre-loaded with several programs I am probably not going to need, so the boot-up time is a little longer than I anticipated. I am not sufficiently techie to know how to do more than clear browser cache and Temp Files!
The internal speakers are not very good - anything above a low sound seems fuzzy to me, but you can plug in a headset which makes up for this (probably good quality external speakers would help too but that kind of removes the portability from the functionality!).
I found the touch-pad mouse overly sensitive at first and although I have become accustomed to it over the past few weeks, because I have parkinson's (controlled reasonably with medication) I find that I am still sometimes inadvertently double-clicking. For a while I resolved this by plugging a plug/play optical mouse in to one of the USB ports but that also detracts from the "laptop" nature of the notebook, in my view.
Reading the other review here on DooYoo I see that this laptop isn't designed for gaming and I can understant why this comment was made - as a very basic user/gamer, however, I have found that I have been pleasantly surprised. I only have a few games, mostly aimed at maintaining hand/eye coordination (something my parkinson's seems to be trying to impair!) and they not only load fine, play well but the graphics display well too!
For me, then, this is a great investment. Vista is a bit irritating (I turned off the "smart" display to optimise performane) as I have been used to Win98SE for many years, but to be able to take my laptop with me when I go to sleep and have it by my bed so when I wake in the night (a frequent occurrence) and can't get back to sleep, I have the internet right to hand. I love it!

DESIGN and BUILD QUALITY
This Laptop is a no frills business machine. HP forget super stylish and instead have made a functional laptop that is durable.
The Laptop is extremely robust and built well out of thick plastics. The keyboard is sound and the laptop is designed to fit nicely on the lap.
Another great thing about this laptop is how cool it stays. Your wont be radiating your genitals to much with this machine.
This laptop has a screen designed for business. The test machine had BrightView installed and is great the picture is so sharp. A reason for this is business users may have to look at for several hours at a time and it is designed with them in mind. Its 15.4 Inches wide and is perfect for spreadsheets, word documents and powerpoints.
This is one of the nicest screens I have seen on a laptop especially at this price range
This laptop has a dual core processer which is pretty standard these days but it only has 1GB of RAM. This is fine for Microsoft Office and the Internet but Im sure it will strugle over time. I do reccommend upgrading the laptop to 2GB.
There is a 120GB hard drive in this laptop which should be enough for anybody.
There isnt really much point in talking about the graphics in this computer as it isnt for playing games. HP make huge numbers of PC's for that. Instead this laptop has a cheap and cheerful intel intergrated chipset.
The advertised 4.5 hours is okay and I suppose enough for most users. If you require transcontinental flights of use without power then this isnt the laptop for you but if you want to use it on the train in the morning then this is more than enough
There is minimal things to talk about as this is no frills business power PC but I hate the way it has Vista. I reccommend deleting vista and getting XP professional. It will run a hellofalot faster. Bear in mind there is no Vista Disk.
This laptop also does have a Card reader which is always useful. The inbuilt speaker isnt great but you shouldnt nees one too much.
This laptop is a no frill Business Power PC and is at a great price. If you want a laptop that will make it easy to perform your menial office tasks then this is the one for you.
