A fantastic all-round laptop for students and professionals alike

Since beginning my student career three years ago having a laptop has been paramount not only for the requirements of my work (meaning, as a typical student, that my all nighters were allowed to continue past the library closing time of 12:00am) but also as an avid user of a whole multitude of different media. Since my first laptop was made by PC World's own brand Acer and decided more often than not that it would be plagued by some disaster or other which made using it more of a chore than a leisure, I opted for a more well-known, as well as well-trusted, brand in HP and I was most certainly not dissapointed.

The first thing that drew me to the G62 was its aesthetics; the matt colour as well as the bevelled pattern all make for a very slick and professional design. It's smaller than my previous Acer however this did not turn out to be a negative point in any respect once I began using it. My initial worry was the keypad, as I for one get very stuck in my ways after using a certain keypad as a touch-typist and it becomes very frustrating forcing my brain to understand a new layout of keys which each new computer I attempt to use (Don't even talk to me about Mac keyboards...) however I was incredibly impressed with the keyboard on the G62 as not only does the keypad feel just as big as the previous, even on a smaller laptop, but there is a certain familiar comfort in the keys here which those concerned with their typing habits will be sure to enjoy. The screen, too, is beautiful and makes up in resolution what it lacks in size to others in its field. All in all then, this is a beautiful laptop with only one real downfall (if it could even be called that) - and that it that in the pursuit of aesthetics, the touchpad is not defined by texture or by standing out from the surface, leading the unobserved user to sometimes swipe blandly around the base of the machine for a while before finding it. Usually this wouldn't even be worth mentioning but I felt I ought to say something to the negative...

Performance wise, the G62 is again something which I really can't find fault with. With strong processors and more than enough RAM for everyday use this laptop really can do everything that's needed of it. Gaming is course something that is to be recommended only for the top-end laptops, if not specialised desktops, however the few games I did try out here seemed to work incredibly well considering, the only problem being a small amount of lag in the higher-resolution games. that being sad, it's really only the very newest games you'll have a problem with here you'll generally find very little issue in your day-to-day gaming.
Another thing that impressed me from the off is the incredible speed of this laptop; from sleep to desktop in under 5 seconds for me was unbelievable compared to the 20-odd second wait of my old machine. Program start-up, too, is fantastically quick and unless you're running huge amount of software or your hard-drive is full to bursting, you'll really never experience any major slow down, and at 500gb of memory it's hardly unlikely that'll happen any time soon. The hard-drive size is probably the thing I was most impressed with in this model, as for a similar price many other brands will offer you a lot less and as a music and film obsessed student, hard-drive space was of incredible importance to me.

All in all this is a fantastic laptop which is absolutely perfect for all day-to-day use, but can definitely be pushed with some extremely impressive results. For the price and the amount of hard-drive space it really is everything you'll need for browsing, working, listening and watching.

      it's slow but good

This laptop not only runs smoothly but it seems like I only scratch the surface of the potential that this system can handle; This is the first laptop I owned with HD graphics, this allowed my laptop to handle some of the up to date graphically intense games.

When I bought this it came standard with Windows 7, my other laptop also came with Windows 7 and I found it easy to use this operating system from XP so it isn't something that should deter you from this laptop.

This model comes with 500GB of ROM memory, this would be more than enough for a lifetime of use, software, music, games and data will all be able to store.

The 4GB or RAM allowed this laptop to run quickly without threshing from being too exhausted, even then all you'd need to do is restart the laptop to empty that volatile memory.

The screen is very bright and adjustable too, no problem with shiny reflections, the built in camera is a good freebie which I enjoyed and made use of when chatting online.

The built in wireless receiver made connecting to my home WLAN a piece of cake, it picked up my network and was ready to surf that web.

The system performance is above average for an i3 thanks to the 7,200 rpm Seagate hard drive. The featurs are brilliant and it runs smoothly. The design is by far one of the nicest. Although there are complaints of this laptop i.e comparance to other laptops makes it not as good, i have found no problems so far what so ever after my purchase, which was 4 months ago. The processor is good, and the screen is good especially for photos. There is a good feel to the keyboard and mouse pad, which is responsive and smooth. It certainly does grow on you. This, in my opinion, is overall a good laptop to purchase and i would definitely recommend it to others

AMAZING; i'd pay even more for it.

At first glance, I was very impressed with the HP G62-b00SA. Normally, like many others I'd go for the "Samsung" or "Dell" laptops; the one's that were most advertised.
But, after browing the internet for a LONG time, I found the HP. The average price to buy this HP is around £441. If you are not satisfied with it, you are allowed a year collect-and-return warranty. Like any other new laptop, it has, which I prefer, Windows 7 Home Premium.

After reading the details. a lot of things stood out for me. For example; the new GRAPHIC HD card which I think is the defining reason why most people brought this is AMAZING. I have owned around 8 different laptops (for work, school, college, entertainment use etc.) and I have never in my life experienced graphics on a laptop as well as this. Before I say anything else, If your buying this for a younger adult/teenager or your buying it for entertainment use mainly GET THIS. You can use it for online gaming, high spech offline gaming. keeping/editing photos, making videos and watching videos online.

One thing which has confused me is that the details say battery life can reach up to 3.5 hours. I didn't think that this was very accurate because after charging it for around 6 hours, it only lasted 2 hours without the charger. I also found that the charger wasn't very flexible; it was very stiff and straight-like so when you put it on your knees, its hard not to damage or bend the wire.

Sometimes, the fan can become very hot and noisy but even after several hours, it remains cool and it makes little to no noise.

As you can tell, the exterior of this laptop is very eye-catching and quite bold. This is what appeal to a lot of people. The screen is at a glossy finish also.
Not only this, but as a lot of people have also said, there is a great feel to the keyboard and the mousepad.
A lot of the time, the mousepad can tend to stick but because of the smooth texture there is alot of grip and movement on the mouse pad.

The spec of this laptop is excellent as well as the processor, yet another reason to buy this HP. The processor is the newest of its kind today, the Core i3 from Intel.

I love all of the little details and finishes that really make this laptop different. It reminds me a lot of the APPLE MAC laptops with its thick exterior and glossy, edgy touches. Alot of the keys such as the delete and the CAPS key have white backlights and the screen also has a very clear backlight. One thing I love is that the light to tell you that the laptop is charging, working or on low battery is INSIDE of the place where the charger goes. It turns green, blue and red.

Overall, GREAT laptop for the money; little to no real complaints. Good for any type of person buying it for any use.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Good for the average user but not for work

The Hewlett Packard G62 B00SA is the first laptop that Ive bought that has HD graphics, which means I can now play some amazing games and watch movies to there full potential and it really is very impressive to see.

It comes with the basic Windows 7 so it is very easy to use with XP. I'm a non tech sort of person but I still find it simple to navigate and use on a daily basis.
The HP G62 B00SA came with a huge 500 GB of ROM which is plenty of space for the average user like me, I can keep all my photos, music and videos all in one place without the need to buy extra storage.

The laptop is very quick thanks to its 4GB of RAM, I never have any problems when I'm watching movies online or anything else that requires speed and alot of RAM.
I find the screen to be a little blurred at times and a little unclear. I tried making some adjustments but it doesn't change much. It has a built in camera that works well and gives a good picture to whoever your chatting with and takes decent photos as well.

The wireless receiver makes connecting the laptop a breeze and even I was able to get up, running and connected to the internet in minutes, which is saying something!

I would say overall the HP G62 B00SA laptop is a good choice for the average user, the screen picture is below average but apart from that its well made and I have had no problems with it.
