reliable computer let down with minor issues
Member Name: jonnymobs
Advantages: unique looks. high peformance
Disadvantages: small fixable hardware issues
ok so i was looking for a much faster computer and after doing a little research i decided to see what the G62 could do for me. a few months later i have put the G62 through its paces and have to say that i am pleased with many major issues, but there are a few minor things that require improvement.
The first thing you notice about the G62 is its stunningly unique looks. insted of traditional shiny surfaces that collect dust fast and ultimately lose lusture, the G62 has a textured mat finish that is easy to clean and looks great. the keyboard is sleek and flush with little in the way or curved keys whitch is somthing i appriciate.
Once you have booted up tour computer for the first time you immediately notice the speed and efficency of the i5 processor as it is released. it takes around 7 seconds from button press to login whitch is fast enough for most of us. HP make the effort for an intuitive set up with detailed graphics and ease of use troubleshooting. so i was able to set up without much hassle.
the G62 is a powerfull laptop. boasting the new intel i range of processors it will make short work of most programs. couple this together with its ample 4GB of ram and it can run multiple, memory consuming tasks at once. the 6 hrs of battery life also help with on the go computing.
i found there to be a few design/hardware issuew with my G62. in the beginning my F keys would not function. this was quickly solved by the HP staff and i assume it was an isolated case. however somthing i am sure is not an isolated case is the keyboard itself. there are a set of quick fire keys to bring up often used programs quickly. this is nothing new and they are usually placed above the keyboard. however HP wanted to be different and some bright spark thought it would be good to place these keys down the left hand side next to the keyboard whitch simply does not make sense. i've lost count the many times i would attempt to hit the caps lock key and insted bring up a DVD player. Or try to hit shift and insted open my calculator. again this is solvable as i am not the only one who thinks this is a stupid idea and there are online guides to disabling these keys.
The G62 is a powerful sleek and ultimately good computer. any minor issues i have brought up can be fixed and i am very pleased with how it runs high memory applications such as games. its pouplariaty is well deserved and as far as premium peformance laptops go is up there with the best.
Summary: worth a look if you want a premium powerful laptop
