Advantages: Great processing, appeariance, multi-media features and price.
Disadvantages: Could not find drivers for built in finger-print scanner.
I've been an HP and Compaq fan for quite some time now and have had good experiences with most of the machines I've used. HP's of the past were quite capable of handling heavy processing, but I always had issues with the weight factor.
The Pavilion dv6xxx series is one of the best machines HP has released up to date and the best I've used up to date from the size/weight perspective. I am currently using the dv6000, with and Intel Centrino processor and 3 gigs of RAM and Windows XP. But apart from that, it's the same machine and boast of the same merits. The sound quality (with Altec Lansing speakers) and in-built web-cam clarity are exceptional and great for video chatting over Skype (and most other messengers). I am also able to load multiple Microsoft Office applications, Outlook as well as multiple browser sessions that often exceed 10-15 independent processes at a given time without any notable slowdown or other adverse side-effects. The touch-pad with vertical scrolling enabled is also a neat and very useful feature. The power options have also been brilliant with stand-by and hibernate modes, which i use very often, functioning without any issues at all. The HP Imprint finish also gives it a really classy appearance!
The only down side I have seen up to date is the unavailability of Windows XP drivers for the in-built fingerprint scanner. It would have been really great if I was able to log in to the machine using this device if it weren't for the fact that I don't seem to be able to find the required drivers to get it working anywhere on the internet.
Overall conclusion, another great laptop from HP!
Summary: One of the best mid-range laptops available on the market today.
