HP Pavilion G6-1381SA
Advantages: High resolution, quick running speed
Disadvantages: Rather large so awkward for travel
I have had many laptops in my time and find that I use one almost daily. The main reason I need my laptop is for University work, watching TV and communicating with friends and family.
Previous laptops I have had have been sufficient at the time, but with slow running speeds, poor internal hard drives and loud fans, I have always been pro-Apple.
This laptop is the first HP model I have had (previous models have included Toshiba etc.) and I think its wonderful! I received it as a gift at Christmas and from the offset it has done nothing but satisfy my needs.
***The main advantages are below***
The weight of the product is excellent. Originally I had wanted a notebook to make carrying my laptop from home to the library or to my classes easier, however, although this laptop has a large screen it is definitely one of the lightest laptops I have held. The product itself is very sleek and the capability of the laptop is amazing for its size.
I love the deep red colour, it really suits my style and I feel a bit different with it than the normal boring black.
The webcam has an excellent quality, as does the speaker which means communicating with friends and family via Skype and MSN is so much easier. The speaker is in a convenient place near the mousepad which means nothing much blocks it, and hours of fun can be had with the webcam, its very clear and I rarely have a problem with crashing and other faults on Skype (which seemed to be a regular on my previous laptop).
The fan is very quiet. My previous laptops were always loud and caused a lot of noise in libraries or when I wanted to watch TV the sound would have to be up to the loudest; however so far I have not heard a peep from my fan, especially in comparison to my brother's laptop which is a couple years older than mine.
The screen resolution is crisp, making movies enjoyable
Microsoft Word and Excel trials already come as standard, these aren't as advanced as the full versions but they satisfy my needs so shouldnt pose many problems unless you do extensive work with these programmes.
Browsing the internet is quick and easy.
Starting teh PC up is also very quick so you're not waiting around for long.
The battery life is fantastic, I can have it off-charge and be browsing the internet and doing other stuff to it and it will last me for hours! - an issue I have find with some older models and makes.
***There are a few disadvantages***
Obviously it is a PC so all those little extras that come with Apple MAC's need to be downloaded, and all the standard PC software is already on so if you prefer Firefox to Internet Explorer then you would need to change this.
The laptop is still rather wide, which is great if you use it for watching TV and prefer a larger keyboard, however if you are transporting it around alot it is just a lot more convenient to buy a smaller laptop.
I would definitely recommend this PC, I adore it. It suits my needs and has not let me down yet. i have personalised the PC to suit me and it is perfect :)
Summary: Excellent for everyday use
