Advantages: Plenty of ports, user-friendly, dependable, good-looking, excellent trackpad and great graphics

Disadvantages: No bluetooth, plastic lid, about 4 hours battery life (it should be one and a half hours more)

I bought this HP Pavilion G6 laptop with a view to having a colourful, contemporary, robust and user-friendly laptop for home use. It's essentially a good budget notebook, not amazing by any means but very dependable and it does the job well.
It has a webcam, a built-in microphone and wi-fi but NO bluetooth. It comes with Windows 7 Home Premium and a host of other features such as HP Games, Skype, CyberCam etc. My tip: it's certainly worth spending a little time checking out what is loaded onto the laptop when you boot up for the first time. You may wish to remove some features which you do not intend to use in order to free up memory.
The laptop is medium weight (2.55kg) and has a glossy finish. It appears to be quite durable - the lid is a strong plastic. It looks sleek and modern with its rounded edges and has a similar look to the 'Beats' range. It is available in colours such as deep red or a turquoise blue.
The trackpad is impressively well-designed and one of the best things about this laptop. It is textured, large and a joy to use. The keyboard is full-size and feels comfortable when typing. The speakers are by Altec and are placed at the front of the machine so sound isn't muffled as it is on some machines. I have been quite impressed with the sound which can be personalised to suit your preference.
On the right-hand side of the machine you get a VGA port, an ethernet port and two USB 2.0 ports. You also get an HDMI port and a SD/MMC card reader which is a GREAT bonus! On the left-hand side you have a DVD-RW drive and surprisingly, an additional USB 2.0 port. Pretty useful.
Oh and one last thing - HD videos and images look great on this laptop. Battery life is not bad at 4 hours a after full charge.
A good all-rounder and recommended. It does what it says on the tin.
