Advantages: Fast, Great specs, looks sexy
Disadvantages: Short battery life, PC Motor Neurone Disease or something!, Heats up!!
-Appearance-
Sleek, black, and sexy! My cover's gotten slightly scratched, because as much as I'm super careful with my laptop, it does happen....
The silver paint layer or whatever it is is tarting to chip at the corners and a bit of colour has come off on my left keyboard button. It's not very obvious but I would rather it stuck to a matt black service than have it peel!
-Features-
I'm a giant techie and when I got my laptop (over a year ago) I AGONIZED about it- and this was my final decision! This laptop's great. It's comes with a Lightscribe DVD-RW drive (allows you to engrave little markings on your Lightscribe DVDS) but I can't even FIND a lightscribe disc so that's not been very good. As a matter of fact I've had to take out my whole DVD drive and replace it with a new one because it stopped reading discs... But that happens
It comes with a Webcam and Microphone which is lovely because I like doing webcam things with my friends overseas. The speakers are Altec-Lansing! Fancy! and they sound pretty good so I'm happy with that as well.
The keyboard and touchpad work reasonably well- this is pretty much the only computer I use these days so I've gotten really used to it (I'm using this laptop right now as I write this review)
The wireless can detect better than others. It doesn't have a finger sensor, which I thought would be nice, but that doesn't matter I wouldn't use it too often anyway
This is an Entertainment Laptop so it's got this little touch control thing as well as a remote control! And it's also got 2 headphone jacks- a great touch so you can watch a movie with your friend without having to get a splitter! Always convenient.
The hard disk is 100 GB- about 20 GB or something dedicated to windows XP but still plenty of space for my music, homework and Sims 2! The RAM is 1GB which is quick enough but not quite matching up to recent laptops popping up with 2 GB.
The video card and processor aren't very good but they work okay. I like the low refresh rate cos it's better for my eyes anyway.
-Long Term Use-
I find that after my months of battering and trying out different things (installing vista, then uninstalling- i must have brainwashed my laptop at lesat 8 times) and mucking around with the registry and stuff hasn't really been good for Stevie (the PC)'s health.
Bits and bobs are breaking slowly, the DVD drive's fallen out (replaced with 40 pounds which is quite cheap) and I suspect the fan's died and gone to heaven cos my laptop BURNS! If, by the way you have any tips, please leave a comment.
-Advantages-
Fast, good specs, nice touches, entertainment pc comes with perks if you like watching movies on ur laptop
-Disadvantages-
Seems to not work! When I installed vista manually (it came with XP) I kept getting the blue screen of death! Installing new OSTs are impossible
-Conclusion-
A good laptop with a fairly good price for what you're getting but the next time I get a laptop (give it another 4 years probably lol) I think I want a Mac- I'm sick and tired of having to tweak stupid Windows!!!
Summary: The best on the market a year ago but I wouldn't get this now- great specs but not worth the trouble
