I love this laptop and I have owned it for nearly 2 months now. Firstly, its looks. The hp pavillion is stylish, smooth, and has obviously been designed to look nice. Not a block of plastic with a keyboard like some laptops. The keyboard is a good size and easy to type on, and it has a numberpad aswell which can be useful sometimes. With it being a gloss black colour, I tend to have fingermarks all over it, which I personally am not bothered about but I thought I would point it out. The hp isnt slow, and can handle many things. I have enjoyed playing computer games on it with ease, and also my work. The screen is very clear and there are lights everywhere. The sound quality from the speakers isnt the best, however that hasn't been a problem for me. Although it has 3 usb ports, 2 of them are right next to each other, and I have been unable to plug in 2 usb's at once into these as there is not enough space. I feel this should have been thought out better. The touch screen volume and wifi control can also be quite useful. Overall I think this is a great laptop for the price range, although the battery life is also quite short.
After using a Dell laptop for 3 years, using Vista, facing constant overheating issues etc. I decided to get a new laptop. After much consideration and reading other reviews this the HP Pavilion dv8387ea seemed a great option. I can happily say that I made a great choice. First of all the appearance of this laptop is great. The touch pad is a little difficult to use, it almost being like a mirror. I got a laptop with Windows 7 pre-installed, which is probably quite common now, and the reliability of this laptop in comparison to one with vista is incredible. It only takes a few minutes to start up, and unlike other laptops doesn't take long to shut down either. I would recommend this to anyone who uses their laptop for gaming purposes in particular, as it easily equals the Alienware line of gaming laptops, at a much cheaper price.
I love this machine! This was the first laptop which I ever owned I got it last year in preparation for moving to Uni and i still sit here today typing on it now. I don't feel that the laptop has aged at all, It has been extremely reliable and still has the specifications to cope with most of the latest games and other software which is being released. The computer is packed with great features such as the 5 in one card reader, i also liked the media playing facilities this computer has. Below the screen there are a row of touch sensitive buttons which allow really easy watching of dvd's or media files. There is a wireless switch on the front of the laptop which makes it really easy to connect to WIFI if you want to. My only criticisms of this laptop is that the USB ports are in a slightly annoying place and there are only 3. To combat this I purchased a USB hub. The only other problem is the short battery life. All in all a great laptop
