I purchased this laptop recently through work, which would allow the flexibility of combining my home and office life. The device itself is sophisticated in appearance, and also surprisingly lightweight versus other laptop devices I have owned previously of a similar size and model.
£599.99 including a laptop case - though like I said this included a discount due to being purchased through my employer.
WHERE DID I BUY IT FROM?
Item was purchased through my workplace, but you can purchase this from most major electrical retailers in the UK, but for the best price I would check HP website direct as they do offer excellent discounts from time to time.
DISPLAY AND SOUND
The ProBook itself has a 14-inch display monitor which produces a high quality and bright image and also produces minimal glare depending on how close you sit to a window of course.
The speaker is located at the bottom-left hand side of the laptop, and it produces a high volume and very good quality of sounds, and is ideal if you are having calls or watching videos through the laptop, as you can easily here the sounds even in a busy office as I do on a daily basis.
CAMERA AND PORTS
The device itself has a webcam built into the top-middle (above the screen) and can record 720p video aswell as take still images up to 640 x 480 resolution. The camera also has an auto-adjust feature which adjusts the image to reduce blur and glare from light behind you.
With regards to ports, there are all the usual ports you would expect of a laptop to allow for multiple connections, and when I used it at work I have a mouse, keyboard, additional screen and phone charger all plugged in at the same time.
* 4 x USB connector ports
* Modem connector
* Display port
* Fire wire port
* Memory Card Slot
* CD-ROM/DVD Player
* 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5-2520M
* 4GB of RAM
* 320GB (7,200-rpm) Hard Drive
* High resolution
* HD Graphics 3000
* Bluetooth 2.1 EDR
Overall system performance is excellent, and the whole system boot up process only takes around one and a half minutes to complete.
On average, the battery life of the laptop its around 5-7 hours depending on the type of usage, obviously if you are watching movies and videos then the usage will be less than if it is being used for administrative purposes (MS Office etc.)
As mentioned above, this laptop serves as both a home and work device and does both of the jobs extremely well. Obviously my work life involves saving large amounts of emails, files, documents etc. onto the hard drive, but this has had no detrimental effect on the performance of the laptop. An excellent buy for anyone needing to combine both work and home life into one purchase!
