I was not intially impressed with my Lenovo T43p; it was not as shiny, the screen was not as bright, and it was not as powerful as my friends new laptop's. It looks more like a bulky laptop from a decade ago.
However... battery life was good. After 3 years it needs replacement, but it often lasted 3-4 hours when the laptop was new. It is powerful with the 2.13ghz CPU and I added extra RAM (now 2GB) to keep it up-to-date. I never have any performance issues, running XP and a multitude of applicaitons is no sweat. It is always responsive and fast. The build quality is solid, I can't count how many times this has been knocked off the table yet it is it still firm. The hard disk once popped out, requiring a rebuild of the machine as it was corrupted, but it has never missed a beat since. Graphics are great with it's dedicated video card - I play some recent games with good results. The screen quality is good with a high 1450x900 resolution, and the hinges are titanium so it can take alot of abuse.
It has a good list of features and provided software; my favourite is the finger-print recognition which works remarkably well. It still holds it's own with performance after 3 years (it cost £600 new), my only issue with reliability (and losing it a star) is the DVD drive which now only reads CD's. I have been told this can be a common fault with this line. While many of my friends laptops have died, my trusty IBM lives on.
