conditions, even at low brightness. The graphics chip is quite a relic and certainly won t handle any modern games - but they re not what you buy a Thinkpad to run! Anything from the Quake 2 era and before will work just fine, however. A minor gripe is the upper memory limit of just 320MB (there s 64MB soldered to the motherboard and it can take a single 256MB DIMM). It must have seemed quite huge when the laptop was released but it s a little restrictive these days. Careful software setup can allow you to keep on working just fine. Like the memory limit, the CPU speed is paltry by today s standards. However, you won t be buying one of these to run power-hungry ...

starting to run a bit slowly. The major drawback is the lack of any disk or cd drive. I have found it nearly impossible to get new programs onto the Laptop or restore old ones following an inevitable virus. To my mind this is the near perfect internet surfing machine but not much good for anything else in todays world. The build quality is top notch and if you can find one around I would recomend it for keeping next to the sofa and using when watching TV ect (internet poker anyone?). It does not have a wireless capability built in but does have the necessary slot for it and works ...

fact they were the pioneers of the industry with a sackful of awards under their belt to boot. This is my second Laptop. Before this I had a COMPAQ Armada 7400 Pentium II. IN Comparison I can say that the IBM is lightyears ahead of most of the other notebook companies. The IBM 600x is one of the slimmer laptops and is suitable for frequent travellers who want to use their machine in the huddled up seat of a plane, or while in a train or car. The first thing you notice about this baby is its size. Its really slim, not the slimmest but quite comfortable to carry around. Under this slim hood roars a P3 500Mhz CPU which is pretty good for handling complex office jobs and also ...
