Advantages: Small, Light, Reliable
Disadvantages: No G3 built in
I created an account on this web site mostly to complain about something else, and I wanted the karma to balance out, so here is a review of what I think is one of the best laptops ever.
For background you should know that I can have my pick of laptops and would often update to the latest model every year. Well, for the last three+ years I've stuck with my X31 and I'll continue for as long as it lasts.
Note this is about the X31 in general, not specifically the 2673. If you're going to buy one, it'll be second-hand so go for the highest spec possible.
Why? well, because it does everything I want, including:
* Being a small, light net-book long before people realised what net-books could be.
* Having a mouse pointer in the middle of keyboard.
* Being a media centre on long-hall flights.
* Having a firewire connection that works flawlessly with my RME Fireface (a high end audio component).
* Good wifi connection.
* Will run 1900x1200 resolution on an external monitor (screen is native 1024x768).
I always have a look at the new models that come out, especially the X series stuff. So far (the X61 I think), none of them have made it worth upgrading.
OK, it's probably a bit slower that some of the latest stuff, but it keeps up plenty good with what I need it for.
Summary: Still keeps up with the latest gear.
