... with the unit like Step by Step Guide, Pull out charts, expansive manual, free software, promotional material was missing from my IPC. In the box I received my laptop, the driver disks, a carry case and all the required cables, ?that was it? This must be how IPC manage to keep the price so low. For me this was not a problem as I have quite a lot of basis computer knowledge but maybe the first time user would need to contact there support team. (Who are by the way, really down to earth people) My unit still look...more

Premium Review IPC Notebooks in general: I took a risk and it paid off  (266 words)

Rating:

Its really weird reading through some of less favourable reviews for IPC because my experience of them has been nothing short of excellent. To cut a long store short about 10 months ago I purchased my WebStar from an IPC dealer not really knowing who IPC were but finding myself attracted by the best specification for my budget. I won’t lie and tell you I had no concerns dealing with unknown electronics brand but I took the advise of my local dealer who spoke very highly of them indeed. I was delighted to find I had made the right choice and my laptop looked and performed better then laptops belonging to my work colleagues (a big thing in my ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review IPC its blue, full of features and good value (279 words)
by - written on 09/03/01 (Useful, 670 readings)
Rating:

I have recently bought my new IPC notebook from Staples. The spec was: 800MHz Pentium III 20GB HDD, 128MB SDRAM, 8MB Graphics, 8 speed DVD Infra red port, 1 USB port, LAN port Its a metallic blue colour- something a bit different, but might appear "girlie". I was really comparing to PC World, I found that the equivalent machine there was 50Mhz faster, but only had a 10Gb HDD, and a 6 speed DVD. My deal cost £1499 + £400 for 5yr warranty. However I don't have to pay for a year (interest free), versus only 9 months at PC World. So far I have been very pleased with my machine, the infra red port ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review IPC Notebooks in general: IPC Powernote M (233 words)
by - written on 02/07/03 (Useful, 216 readings)
Rating:

I?m an owner of an IPC PowerNote M . I purchased my laptop about 4 months ago for about £750 brand new which I admit made me a bit suspect at first? I had little choice however as my budget would not stretch to ?main stream? brand and even when I did find a Dell or a Compaq I could afford, the spec was poor in comparison to the IPC. So I get my new IPC and all is well? it runs like a dream with Fire wire and USB2.0 running like grease lightning? Two months down the line and guess what ? I have a problem .. shocker ! I need to plug in a new 17? Iliyama monitor I?ve just purchased and it won?t work! So I go to IPC?s support site teksupportuk.com ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review IPC Magicnote F (132 words)
by - written on 24/05/02 (Useful, 603 readings)
Rating:

I bought an IPC Magicnote F almost a year ago. It was significantly cheaper than similar products from other companies. However, now I know that I would have rather bought a little bit more expensive but more reliable notebook. Problems with the Magicnote F: 1. I could not install Windows 2000 on it, the display resolution was at best 640x480 and 16 colors. Now it has windows98 on it, but almost every month the display driver crashes. 2. Consumes a lot of power, I can use it for 1 hour without charging. 3. It had to be sent for repair twice in one year, and it took 6 weeks for them to fix it for the second time, because they were on holiday in April-May. 4. The support ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review IPC Notebooks in general: 12 mth collect & return warranty is GREAT like double glazin ... (584 words)
by - written on 07/03/03 (Useful, 355 readings)
Rating:

With double glazing you might bet a 10 or 25 year warranty - GREAT, eh ? Until the firm go out of business and you find the warranty is not insurance backed. Such a mistake is of course, the consumer's So its completely my fault that my IPC AMD2000 laptop (£749+vat) that comes with an ostensibly generous COLLECT and return 12 mth warranty is not covered at all. Why ? because I doubt whether IPC will be with us in 11 mths time. Nice but bulky fast laptop, incredible value, no FDD but includes a slim DVD + CDRW combo drive. The S-video output port was not connected - how did that get through testing, I asked IPC ? Ah, IPC don't test them, the ...  Read the complete review
