Advantages: Nice colour, large HDD size, stable machine!

Disadvantages: Haven't fond any yet- possibly colour a 'bit girlie' for bloke

I have recently bought my new IPC notebook from Staples.

The spec was:
800MHz Pentium III
20GB HDD, 128MB SDRAM, 8MB Graphics, 8 speed DVD
Infra red port, 1 USB port, LAN port

Its a metallic blue colour- something a bit different, but might appear "girlie".

I was really comparing to PC World, I found that the equivalent machine there was 50Mhz faster, but only had a 10Gb HDD, and a 6 speed DVD.

My deal cost £1499 + £400 for 5yr warranty. However I don't have to pay for a year (interest free), versus only 9 months at PC World.

So far I have been very pleased with my machine, the infra red port works well with my Nokia 7110 (although painfully slow compared to my T1 connection!). I have also got a USB Win TV, so I can now watch TV through my laptop! The machine has coped wel with this demand- but did have teething troubles setting up the sound. On IPC machines the built in microphone is configured, but the external microphone has to be configured as this is the line in device.

I have yet to try out the DVD player, as I am lacking in DVD's!

I felt more confident buying IPC as they are well known in Germany and have only just broken into the UK market. This is versus something like "Advent" which is Dixons on brand, and is not well know elsewhere.

So far I have been impressed with my machine, but will update dooyoo of any developments

You can get laptop insurance for £99 or £150 for 3 years from several places. Don't try insurance companies you need to use laptop insurance specialists. I would mention them here but I think that would be advertising and dooyoo don't allow that - search the internet "laptop insurance u.k." is that allowed ?

Were you lucky with your IPC laptop, does it still work ? you can't sell these things on eBay, look and see. Does anyone want mine - huury before it breaks down again.

On my first day it was great, really fast, after the second battery charge the battery failed... 29 days later after waiting for a warranty repair and after much abuse from IPC support (IPC, are you kidding me?), the power supply failed - it smoked ! 38 days later I kid you not. Are IPC making a comedy film ?

Hi, I have been looking at the IPC Web Book 3000. Great to find someone at last that has at least heard of IPC. Are you still happy with your laptop. On the face of it the Web Book looks good value but do not want to splash out and find I've bought a lemon.

hello, just thought I would say, I brought an IPC laptop direct from york as we are a pc dealership. My case cracked and all it does is sit on a desk all day it has been back that many times I cant count! I have had that many problems , infact my laptop is still there. It spends more time there than it does with me and they now want to replace it with a uggly one! There technical support minimum 2 weeks return and I will be going through the legal channel inregards to them now Andy Gough the technical manager is ok but does not really care. My advise would be not to buy email me pnixon@pnpsuk.net
