Advantages: Lots of features, good brand reliability
Disadvantages: battery life can be a bit poor
I have a slightly different model of this but essential its identical except for the processor i think, mine has a dual core processor but its not a core 2 duo.
In waiting for it to arrive I ordered more ram for it, it came with 2gb but i wanted 4gb becuase I had heard of the strains that vista puts onto the memory usage and also I was going to be using memory strenuous 3d Software. It ran pretty good on 2gb to start with and would be fine for anyone with basic computer needs, word processing, internet surfing etc are all fine. But it did stuggle when trying to multi task between opening lots of programs and bogs it down considerably
After putting in the extra 2gb of ram the thing flies and starts up really quickly, I didn't realise quite how quick it was until i saw my mates PC with 1gb ram running vista, Im really thankful for the extra ram which cost me about £25 so its a really cost effective upgrade in my opinion.
I bought the laptop about 6 months ago now and its still wokring well, it does get very dusty very quickly and constantly needs wiping over so invest in some screen wipes - also gets very slight marks on the screen from the keypad when its been shut and pressed up against other things like when you put stuff on top of it or put it into a laptop bag.
I am very happy with my laptop and it was definately the best spec for the money, From researching I found out Lenovo was the follow on from IBM so don't be concerned if you've never heard of them. Mine has an integrated webcam, bluetooth, HD sound, HDMI output, 250GB hard disk and now 4gb of ram, this really does have a lot and i only paid £340 for it plus £25 to upgrade the ram.
I would recommend this product to anyone wanting a fairly low-ish priced laptop becuase its just brilliant VFM.
Summary: I would recommend this laptop to anyone

- 13/05/09 At what part did I say they were? I said Lenovo was a follow-on, meaning IBM laptops have now been replaced with the Lenovo brand, which is the truth |

- 13/05/09 Lenovo is not part of IBM. It bought out the IBM PC Division in 2005. The machines are made in China. I believe that IBM resell Lenovo machines now. |

- 12/05/09 I have an almost identical Lenovo laptop, the 3000 C200, which I've had for two years and still going strong - it's my desktop replacement and is what I'm typing this on now! I've found it excellent except that my battery not only died but made the laptop reboot itself constantly until I removed it and now I run without (it is a desktop replacement after all!), so maybe there is some sort of weakness in their battery design. Aside from that, I've found over the past 20 years that you can't go too far wrong with IBM! |
