Select ThinkPad T43 notebooks feature a fingerprint reader built into the palm rest. By combining the fingerprint reader with Password Manager and the Embedded Security Subsystem, users can authenticate with unique fingerprints instead of copious passwords. Administrators can also take advantage of the reader to implement strong security policies and to help users more easily meet ongoing password requirements.

that as with all IBM/Lenovo laptops, the exact specifications are variable, depending on the options selected at time of purchase. For example, according to the specifications above, the T43 1871 has an 80GB hard drive and a DVD Writer - whereas despite being labelled as a model 1871, my machine has only a 20 GB hard-drive and a CD writer. The rest of the specifications here on this site seem to match though. There are a few different things that you can consider when purchasing a laptop, depending on the primary purpose you have in mind.
