This is one of the most durable and well-built laptops out there. There are no creaks, no weird sounds, no anything. This laptop is perfect. One of the best things about it is "the nipple". That little red dot in the middle of the keyboard. Once you get used to using it, its hard to ever go back to using touch pad again. Mostly because your hands are always on the keyboard and when you need to move the mouse you just use the dot and in an instant you're back to the keyboard. It is very light, which means it's easily portable which is always good for a laptop. With 8 GB of RAM and i5 processor with 5200M nvidia card you'll do everything for your business with no problems at all. Even some gaming won't be a problem. But don't expect wonders. It's not mean't to be a gaming laptop. The best thing about this laptop is its sturdiness. I like that I could grab it by the lid and carry it around without the fear that something will break. The thing that annoys me is that old-fashioned sound when you plug it off the charger or the battery is empty or... Once I left the laptop in stand by with low battery and when the battery was almost drained it started screaming and I was sleeping so it scared the hell out of me. But you can just turn it off in the BIOS.
Great laptop, I used it mostly for my business, it had no problems debugging various programs and running multiple servers at the same time (JBOSS, Tomcat, MYSQL, ObjectDB....)
LENOVO ThinkPad T430 2356
14.0 inch Notebook Core i7
Windows 8 Pro 64-bit RDVD (Intel HD Graphics)
A business laptop that really does mean business. It's a reasonable weight at 1.8kg meaning it's easy to transport from office to office, whilst it's not too chunky, it's also sturdy enough to stick up for itself in the rigours of public transport.
In soft-touch black it also looks professional with no bells or whistles you may expect from a non business laptop. The trademark ThinkPad red track-point is situated in the certain of the keyboard; which can be used as well as, or instead of the track-pad. The track-pad and mouse keys are certainly easier to use than the track-point although personally I prefer an external usb mouse. Using the red track-point seems to be a skill all of it's own! The keyboard is a precision style layout which I love and find extremely easy to use, it definitely helps increase my efficiency. There is also an in-built webcam in the top lid.
It boots up quickly and after 12 months of solid use, handling large amounts of data with multiple windows, I've yet to suffer a crash of any kind. Wireless connectivity is reliable and also trouble free. Although images do appear sharp and clear I think the screen brightness could be increased, even at the full setting it appears a tiny bit dull. Sound isn't a feature I need to make much use of although I would say that this isn't it's best feature, music can sound tinny although I guess this isn't uncommon for personal computers.
It has 2 USB ports on the users left and another on the right, which is more than satisfactory for my uses. there is also a VGA port and headphone jack on the right side. As well as the USB port the right it houses a card reader and CD drive. The AC power jack is located in the rear.
Using a 9 cell battery, it seems to last for hours at least 6 or 7 hours if just emailing/surfing and a little less if carrying out more intense activities probably due to the power saving feature.
For business use this is a very reliable, fast and efficient laptop with excellent battery life.
