Having owned the Packard Bell LJ71 laptop for the best part of a year all I can do is praise the build of such a device. The specs straight away grabbed the eye, Initially I was looking for a large capacity hard drive with a decent size screen & decent processing power. The 1TB (1000GB) H.D.D instantly drew me in and with 4GB RAM I knew I couldn't really be going wrong. I've only recently sold my home desktop PC which was a similar spec to this, as my previous laptops could never keep up with what I needed to do..
So lets get started, I am a heavy PC user who works with programs like Adobe Dreamweaver, Photoshop Elements, Photo Impact etc all of which are quite resource demanding programs, the LJ71 has the ability to multi-task such programs with ease, along with surfing the web and playing back video or music at the same time.
In the time I have owned the system it has NEVER crashed and NEVER really run slow, I would think having such a large memory capacity helps with the load but its one thing that I never had patience for and has definately made me a happy customer with my purchase.
To look at this laptop is very attractive, it has a sleek black and silver design with easy finger touch controls just above the keyboard, comes complete with CD and DVD burner it has no problem at all playing either forms of media, I reguarly stream media via the internet and watch DVD's, it also has a HDMI output which can be used for playing your content on an external screen with HD quality.
There are plenty of USB ports for external devices and also a memory card reader so you can easily access your files on the move. It has a brightly lit 17'3 inch display which gives you plenty of desktop space to work with.
The laptop also comes with the latest version of Microsoft Windows 7 which makes the users experience much easier in comparison to earlier release's, with just a few clicks we can now share our files amongst the home network and stream media directly from Windows Media Player.
On average I would say the battery lasts around 2 hours from being fully charged with active use. However using it on powersaver you may get another 30mins to an hours use.
It also has two built in speakers, its not the loudest of laptops however the sound is of good clear quality!
There is a lot to say really about this laptop but to experience the effectiveness of how well the system really does operate you will need to try it yourself. Im not sure that this laptop is still available to purchase from retailers but if your lucky enough to pick one up second hand then you will have yourself a nice deal.
There is only really one negative with the LJ71 and that is the weight of the device. If you are considering just using in an office or static at home then theres no problem but if you are one of these people who take your laptop everywhere then you will really notice the weight hanging from you.
Overall, Very satisfied!
The Packard Bell Easy Note LJ71-RB-025-UK is an excellent laptop that really has raised the boundaries for some of the higher quality laptops floating around the markets during these current days. The laptop is extremely thin despite having so many great specifications, infact it's no larger than a slightly larger than an A4 book that is a third as thick as J.K. Rowling's 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix'.
I find that it's very heavy even though the looks of it makes it seem as if it's just a slightly large, relatively thick book. The laptop boasts an amazing 2.2 GHz dual core processor that is excellent for running many tasks quickly and smoothly, whilst also having 4 GB of RAM which is excellent for heavy gamers who play games such as modern, well established MMORPG's such as World of Warcraft and Last Chaos (both of which I have tried), as the 4 GB RAM and 2.2 GHz processor combination allows those sorts of things that eat a lot of RAM to run smoothly.
The laptop also has a truly brilliant Radeon HD 4200 HyperMemory which has up to 1408 MB of video memory, again also making it excellent for gamers and those who wish to work with programs that consume a lot of RAM and processing power that other, standard, computers struggle to cope with. The laptop also has gigabit ethernet, which is extremely fast compared to the standard ethernet on laptops, as well as this, there's wireless networking which can connect to three of all of the three possible internet types (b/g/n).
Also, the laptop comes with the praised Windows 7 Home Premium, and the excellent 17.3" Widescreen TFT screen that is very bright and produces very little heat for maximum efficiency, and the battery life is long despite my battery plan of high performance as well as heavy usage of demanding programs in one session. Also, there is a highly powerful speaker based just above the keyboard, and shaped for maximum efficiency, as well as a HD camera just above the screen.
