Sony Vaio FX105K ... this computer as a replacement for my aging 486. I have been pleased with it so far. It runs reliably, the screen is a decent size and the DVD drive lets me watch DVD films when I should be doing something useful. Installed Mandrake linux 9.0 onto it, be careful however as the linux bootloader conflicts with xp, and the hard drive will not boot. I would recommend using system commander as a bootloader. Linux installed without hassle and found most of the hardware. I am having trouble installing modem drivers in both xp and linux. ... Read the full review: A good buy by blueskies |

Compaq Armada E500 ... have always owned a PC and never really needed a laptop although I always wanted one because in away its a gadget and I am abit of a gadget man. But recently my PC has been playing up and because I need the PC daily for my website update I thought that I should really invest in a laptop just incase my PC fails completely. I admit that I really have not much idea about laptops. IBM, Toshiba, Compaq seemed to be the big players in laptops so I thought the only way I can pick one is to visit this website and check out Ebay to see what the prices are for certain machines. Sony Vaio F707 ... had had many desktops before I decided to go for a laptop. I chose the Pentium 3 750Mhz with a DVD-Rom and a 15" screen. Although it was very expensive, it looked great and the 15" screen was an extremely valuable asset. As laptops go, this computer is at the top end of the spectrum and although it was a nice machine, for what I paid it wasn't the be all and end all of laptops. The first thing I noticed was that it was very heavy. I know the big screen adds much weight, but it it was still heavier than similar models with other companies.
