Sony Vaio F707 ... had had many desktops before I decided to go for a laptop. I chose the Pentium 3 750Mhz with a DVD-Rom and a 15" screen. Although it was very expensive, it looked great and the 15" screen was an extremely valuable asset. As laptops go, this computer is at the top end of the spectrum and although it was a nice machine, for what I paid it wasn't the be all and end all of laptops. The first thing I noticed was that it was very heavy. I know the big screen adds much weight, but it it was still heavier than similar models with other companies. Toshiba Satellite Pro 4340 ... of all, yes i am a student but i am dyslexic so my LEA bought the compy for me. I could never in a million years pay £2000 for a compy, and if i did i would prefer a desk top so already i am slightly biased about the product. I had lots of additions to the basic computer, i had a DVD drive added and increased the memory to 256, and the processor to a p3 700. I am fairly sure the memnory was originally only 64, which in my feeble opinion is pointless if you have a processor above 500mhz any higher and the memory will slow you down. Sony Vaio Z600TEK ... found this an excellent computer. I move around a lot so I wanted something light and slim. However it's also great on power - it has windows 2000 and 128 SDRAM. I'll never get through the 20GB hard disk but it's nice to have and does not add much to the cost. The other great thing about it for a mobile user is that you can plug directly into LANs and be up and running on other people's networks without having to go through all sorts of modem, DNS pain. Convenient - highly mobile - and a very reasonable specification. Is it worth the £2200 I paid on Tottenham Court Road? Cheaper would have been nicer but I've no complaints. Actua...
