I enjoy using computers and have purchased and used many computers so last year i decided to purchase a cheap e-system laptop and just shy of £200. I broke this by accident and therefore decided to purchase a new laptop. the Samsung Rv510. In argos they have the Rv510 and an upgrade to it again called the Rv510, i purchased the upgrade which basically meant 4gb of ram over 3 for just shy of £400.

Set up

Setting the laptop up was exteremly easy and it was suprisingly very basic to set up where i think anyone, even with little knowledge could set one up. It took little under 10minutes to completely set up and the built in wireless adaptor was very quick to connect to my bt home hub.

Ability to perform

The upgrade i have features a good 4gb of ram which in anybodys view is VERY GOOD and is more than enough and together with the 2.1ghz processor it is very easy to play games, listen to music and make a skype/msn video call... with the built in webcam which is very well positioned in the centre.

Battery life

The battery life on this laptop i have found to be excellent and have made a 2 hour journey to and 2 hour journey back in a car with music playing full blast and it has lasted so in my view the battery life is anywhere from 3hours to 5 hours however if you decrease the brightness of the screen and decrease the volume the laptop will last a lot longer.

The features on this laptop are very good as it comes with : McAfee VirusScan, Samsung Battery Life Extender, SAMSUNG Support Center, Samsung Recovery Solution, Samsung Easy Network Manager, Samsung Easy Display Manager, Samsung Easy Speed Up Manager, CyberLink Youcam and Microsoft Office 2010 Starter. Also it comes with a 60 day free trial of norton anti virus which is very handy however i recomend download free anti virus software.

Operating system

The Samsung Rv510 comes with windows 7 home premium 64 bit which in my opinion is very easy to use and will not let you down when it comes to navigating your way around.
The graphics are also very good and in most cases it feels high definition with it's 15.6 inch screen it is wide enough to watch movies and is good enough to play nearly all computer games.

The Samsung Rv510 features a 4 in 1 card reader supporting : SD Memory Card, MultiMediaCard, SDHC Memory Card, SDXC Memory Card. It has a large 320gb hard drive which is very good and is capeable of holding over 400 feature length films. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack which is usefull as many headphones are 3.5mm and they are very cheap also the sound quality in the earphones is rather impressive. The speakers are high definition and the laptop also has SRS 3D Sound you can tell the sound is decent because the speakers are very good quality and the sound level is brilliant also when you plug additional speakers into the laptop they can be made VERY loud so this laptop can definatly boast its sound system. Also it has 3 usb ports which i suppose is enough however most laptops do come with 4 but 3 is plenty.

Verdict

Execllent laptop has never let me down and was well worth the £400 if you can get cheaper which by now im sure you can it is well worth it but be sure to purchase the upgrade with 4gb ram. The features are brillaint and the graphics and sound are of an excellent quality. It is a reasonable weight and is definatly not flimsy whilst the black and silver design look stunning. The mouse is very responsive and i do not care what anyone else says it is not hard to use the track pad mouse as it is just brilliant. It never over heats like some laptops and the processer is just excellent. Anybody after a new laptop should definatly consider the Samsung Rv510 it will not let you down!
