Operating System: The laptop comes out of the shop standard with Windows 7. I find that although this is not the newest one on the market anymore, it is very easy to use and doesn't include many of the issues that people find with the new Windows 8.
RAM: 4gb which is plenty for anyone who is performing normal everyday tasks
Hard Drive: 500GB which is massive. Even after 3 years I have not filled this and I am a Photographer and a Web Designer.
Size: 17.3 inches. This is very good for the display, however it can make it a little annoying when travelling.
There is also a built in camera which can be used as a webcam, a bluray player and 3 USB ports.
It runs off an Intel Core i5 processor.
This can be purchased for an average £700 which is a little pricey, however the quality and performance is what you pay for and it is well worth it if you are looking for a laptop in this price range.
I have owned this laptop for around 3 years now and I must say it has served me well. As you can see from the spec mentioned above, the RAM and harddrive are way over what anyone would need for performing standard tasks. My main issue with this product is the battery life. To start with, it was excellent however over the first few months it definitely started to decrease in full life. I know it is now 3 years old, however when I use it, it has to be constantly plugged in, if not a full life will last around 15 minutes maximum.
I have used this laptop for gaming, webdesign, photo editing, and normal everyday tasks. I feel that it really has served me well over the years and I would definitely recommend it.
a great looking laptop to start with even before its on! there is 4gb of ram which is plenty for anyone to perform normal tasks on a laptop, and a whopping 500gb of memory, there will be loads these laptop is perfectly designed for gaming alongside its graphics its perfect! it comes in various different colours however i would only personally get it in black, as i think other colours may become out-dated and old. But the sleek futuristic design of this laptop means it will be fashionable for a long time. Also its has the new windows seven. Also a 17 inch widescreen which is pretty big for a laptop screen, and good for gaming and watching videos. It also has a few good features such as a more colourful keyboard skins and other things to make these laptops more colourful and vibrant which is helping them stand out from there competitors. however after a period of time the battery life becomes shorter
I own this type of laptop for about a week and so far it didn't let me down, actually it surprised me.As far as performance goes it's been very good.It has a 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 graphics
card, a full 1080 HD display, and Blu-Ray drive so it will more than likely please even the hardcore gamers and movie buffs.I played Crysis with the details at Ultra High I managed to get 25-30 fps which is not bad at all.Hd movies play very well on it and the display is crystal clear. The keyboard is very comfortable and I managed to get used to it very quickly. With the 2.26 GHz Intel Core i5 processor you can do multitasking without any problems. The only minus is the battery life which is under 2 hours but considering it's a multimedia laptop the battery life isn't all that bad.Overall this is a sleek laptop with a classy design,a 17'3 " widescreen, great for multitasking, games, movies so it will please everyone and for the price it goes it's a real bargain, worth every penny.
With thousands of laptops and computers to choose between on the market today, it`s not easy finding the best one for you, therefore research and information coming from other sources might prove highly important! I bought my Sony Vaio from the E Series after a friend recommended it to me, and I have been very pleased with it ever since!
First of all, this computer costs more than many other laptops out there, I paid 805.99 for mine. However, sometimes you have to spend a little extra in order to receive the best brand and quality, so I haven`t really given it much thought afterwards...
This laptop comes with Windows 7, a program I find very easy to learn and use, filled with features and programs that should appeal to users of all ages... I used to have Windows Vista on my old laptop, but after having used Windows 7 for about four months, the memory of Vista is certainly not one that impresses me... As for sound in terms of listening to music, watching dvd`s and playing games, I am delighted to inform that this laptop has that bit covered, and with style! The sound is very well balanced and comfortable to the ears, very satisfied with that! The laptop also has a 1 GB video RAM memory, so if you enjoy playing games, this laptop might suite you well! With a 17.3 inch display with a 1920x 1080 pixels resulotion, the screen offers very clear and wonderful pictures and images...
I must briefly mention the design of this laptop, it`s quite stylish and modern! Clear, classic lines and colors, the Sony Vaio looks very good, even amongst some of the real diamonds of its brand!
Pretty much the only negative thing to mention about this laptop, is that the battery life is not at all great! I mean, it`s somewhat good, but for a laptop of this overall superb quality, I expected the lasting of battery to be much higher, therefore a bit disappointed on that part...
To conclude, this laptop is great for work, watching movies, listening to music, surfing the net and all of that, and the only disadvantage I can think of, is that the battery life will not impress!
When purchasing this laptop I set myself a budget on what I was going to spend but also what I wanted for the price I was going to pay for the Laptop. After looking at different alternatives I decided to purchase this one as for the price it was very good and it offered everything that I needed.
For this product I ended up paying around £640 from the Sony online store which is an extremelly good price for a product which will without doubt do everything that you need it to possibly do.
For the model I purchased it came with a 15.5" screen but this laptop also comes with a 14" and 17". It also came with 500gb hard drive which is free at the moment so I highly recommend purchasing one soon. It also comes with 3gb of memory but remember both of these things are expandable for extra money.
This laptop is so easy to use as you would expect from a sony. Once switching it on you have to do a simple installation process which will take around 10-15minutes but after that you are ready to go and do what you want.
This is where the Vaio really shines because the graphics on the screen are fantastic and one of the best graphics I have ever seen on a laptop. Alot of other cheaper laptops have very poor graphics so be careful when purchasing one.
The battery life on the Vaio is not outstanding but it will do aslong as you can charge it up before you use it for a day. I currently just leave it plugged in so it does not effect me as much. You should be fine with it however as I have seen it worse on other laptops ut better on others.
Upgrades on this laptop are available when purchasing through the online store. This is a very good thing for poeple who know what they are upgrading to because it gives you the chance to increase hard drive capacity and internal memory for an extra price.
Overall I would say that this laptop for the price that it is can not be beaten. For anyone in that price range I would without hesitation recommend it to them as I think it has been a bargain paying what I have for it. With it being very light and easy to carry round you can also take it anywhere you want which you can't do with others.
Thank You, Hope This Helps

With the trend of laptops getting ever more advanced and powerful in ratio to their size, the advantages of having a desktop PC as the main computer in your family and/or business are becoming relatively minimal.
Laptops are showing that they can be the main computer of choice, not just the travel companion - with products like the new SONY VAIO E SERIES bringing both colour (oh yes, Sony have gone rainbow on this one - with choices from pink to blue to good ol' black) and performance into the mix. The VPC-EC1S1E/BJ member of the E Series is in black, but I always was a more subtle type anyway (honest).
...VAIO COME AND ME WANNA GO HOME?...
Yes. But not because its bad. In fact, quite the opposite. I want it to replace my desktop computer!
The being said, the VPC-EC1S1E/BJ was designed well for travels, and it has accompanied me mostly outside of the comforts of home.
This laptop is crammed full of features, meaning its not the lightest on its feet tipping the scales at just over 2.7kg. In fact, its desktop aspirations are evident in its measurable size (248mm x 31mm x 369mm). But trust me, its still very slim and chic - and visually quite beautiful. Sony have certainly not held back on aesthetics with the E series - you could spend a fair while studying its many slight and appealing curves and contours.
But after you've done that, does it matter where it really counts - inside?
Inside is at the forefront of modern parts for medium-to-high end laptop. It is slightly on the heavy side of RAM (Memory usage) from the start-up, but you're getting a good standard for that little bit extra load. And with a very ample 4GB RAM as standard, it takes to your tasks quite swiftly and with dedication. Even gamers will be glad to know it has been tested and taunted with some heavy loads, and came through admirably (a Football Manager 2010 game on full database was not a problem on the memory front, whilst a few graphic-heavy First-Person Shooters served no worries for its Intel core i5-430M processor and a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 graphics processor with 1 GB video RAM memory.)
7 is the magic number
No Vista. Thank god. Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Operating System means its fully loaded. This is just the Operating System mind you, you'd have to aquire and install Microsoft Office et all after you've purchased E Series VAIO (which is of course standard fare with all new computers - unless you're lucky)
The E series has a couple of interesting features, notably a 'Web' button that loads a Linux-based graphical user interface that allows you to browse the Internet without having to wait for Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit to load. There's also a fancy 'Web clipping' tool that allows you to keep track of anything interesting you come across during your browsing session, and gain access to these things from any other PC or Web-connected mobile phone.
The Tech Bit
The laptop consists of 3 MB L2 cache memory, 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM with 1066 MHz speed and a 500 GB hard disk drive. It supports BD ROM, DVD+-RW, +-R DL and RAM optical format. In everyday speak, thats not too bad at all. Ultimately fast and effective, even though it may never quite win Gold in a race.
The 17.3 inch display with 16:9 image aspect ratio and 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution is a real treat to the eyes with its excellent image clarity. This is of utmost importance if you use a computer alot, and a lot of effort has gone into this from Sony to make it a stand out feature.
The connectors include 1 microphone jack, 1 headphone jack, HDMI output, 3 USB ports, VGA output and an express card slot. It supports 802.11 b/g/n wireless LAN and 10Base-T/100Base-TX/1000-Base-T Ethernet.
The built in speakers ensures crystal clear sound output and the built in microphone enables sound input. This unit also features a 0.3 megapixels image sensor.
Battery life is good, not great. But that can be expected considering its relatively good price range. Good value for money can be had with a laptop that you can sense will last a long time.
The textured effect palm-area was supposed to be a master-stoke (no pun intended). But the seemingly clever touch is in fact mildly irritating, evoking an image in the back of your mind of nails on a chalkboard. Although not that horrific, the part where you connect with the laptop the most (i.e. the mouse pad) feels rough and frankly, wrong. Still, looks nice though (says the designer at Sony).
All-in-all, laptop/desktop whatever you use it for - the
SONY VAIO E SERIES VPC-EC1S1E/BJ comes out on top. Just buy a mouse to go with it!
This laptop is great, its fast and reliable, the graphics are out of this world, I am a heavy gamer playing some of the most graphics hungry games and this works and charm, runs smooth as butter on the wireless. The DVD burn is as good as the name claims to be but there's not really room for complaint when everything else is above and beyond. I would also advice a different windows if possible (it was for me, I bought it from pcworld) as vista is very very harddrive and ram hungry and makes the laptop lag more than needed. The battery life is absolutely extreme! I used this on a 9 hour coach journey turning it off and on about three times and it made it through the whole journey with much battery loss. The only thing I would say truly dissapointed me was the mouse pad, as it felt rather rough to the hand.
I have four laptops within my household, and this one has to be the best, had it for almost two years now, and although atlittle slow at times now, becuase of all the music i have on it, i have no complaints.
What im most pleased with was the qaulity of the charger, becuase with some of the cheaper laptops i have, iv had to replace of fix the charger for them at least twice.
Its great for watching movies on with a screen of that size. I have a netbook that i use when travelling, and normally go to watch a movie on the train, but i much prefer the lager screen of this laptop.
I spose a bad point would be the price, its quite expensive considering there are alot of really good cheap deals out there on simialar laptops these days, but i think for you get what your paying for, good memory, stylish and sleek and run very fast when i first got it.
For those who travel a lot, this laptop has been specially designed for this people. It has Windows 7 premium built in with 64 bit OS.
Your tasks are done very simply, with the Intel HM55 Express Chipset, powered by Intel Core i5-430M processor with 2.26GHZ speed!
The Sony Vaio VP-EPC1S1E is also provided with the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 graphics processor with 1GB video RAM memory.
The images of this laptop are an excellent feature with 17.3 inch display with 16.9 image aspect ratio with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution!
With the built in speakers giving you crystal clear sound with a microphone, it enables sound input. A 0.3 megapixel image sensor is also includes in this unit.
This laptop provides you with a multi touch touchpad and a keyboard. All together, it weighs 3.3 KG due to the unit being 273.8 mm in depth, 31.9mm in height and 409.1 mm in width!
Overall, I think this is worth your money. Its appearance is professional with a high performance.
I just love Sony, I dont really know if they are better at making laptops or tv's , or just highly skilled at both, anyhoo!
This is some laptop, sporting an Intel i5 chip (woow), blu ray , dedicated graphics card, windows 7, 4 gig RAM (DDR3 RAM so it even faster than DDR2) and its 64 bit which means windows 7 will actually recognise all the 4 gig of ram.
as soon as you switch the thing on you realise how fast, it actually is. When you go online it really will make your web browsing seem like a blur to be honest. I mean we all know windows 7 is fast anyway, but this if unbelivable to be honest
The i5 is clocked at 2.5 ghz which is no slouch, the screen is as always with vaio s impressive. The one thing i will say is you get a very pronounced richness from this particular screen probably because it is LED backlit.
I have tried the blu ray on a couple of disks, one was "UP" and i have to say it probably the best picture I have seen in the uk on any device, simply breathtaking.
All I'll say is this laptop is near damn it perfect, even down to the keyboard those individually spaced keys to its bright, delightful webcamera.
The only thing might be, it may be too powerful for some people!
