As a graphic designer I needed something that was able to accommodate the multitude of software I use on my home computer to a compact laptop. I'm not the most computer literate person in the world, so did plenty of internet research and grilled the adolescents/ monkeys that work in PC World and settled on the Sony Vaio E Series. Its runs superbly, the best I have ever experienced on a Laptop and it looks sleek and futuristic, however since purchasing the hinges have snapped twice and I have lost two keys; I have an adequate laptop bag and am in no way heavy handed with it. This was a purchase that I saved hard for and am very lucky that I took the time to insure it (for once). The appearance and sleek design is what attracted me, I don't feel so great using it in public on the occasions it has been held together by a sad mixture of Sellotape and optimism. Wish I had opted for durability rather than design. A disappointing purchase. Don't buy unless it's for light use or you're one of those ridiculously careful people.
I have always preferred desktops, but finally decided I could get more done while commuting back and fourth from college.
When I first opened the box was a bit shocked by the size of the Sony Vaio had been. everything seems small in photos My first time with Windows 7 I was happy to see all the new additions have been added. My home desktop is a fast computer but I can not believe how fast the Sony Vaio is, it has a built in bluetooth which hopefully begin to use in the upcoming months.
What I really liked about the laptop Blu-ray! It is fabulous! I never had the experience of having HD before, everything looked great. The only thing about the laptop is the screen is a bit smaller One thing I can say for sure is I love the graphics on the HD I was very impressed by that.
Now, what I did not like about this little new friend of mine The Buttons. they seemed a bit smaller compared to what I have been using before on the PC.
Overall it has good looking design, the keyboard stands out. The graphics just fantastic.
The only drawback That I have would be the battery it has a poor battery life.
I have never before owned a Sony laptop, I have used one and rather ironically I also helped to break that same one, with help with a few steps, me falling over and the banister hitting the screen but I was always intrigued by what seemed to look like good spec, interesting design and the Sony brand... so I plunged into the deep end
The Sony Vaio E Series laptop looks stunning. The striking white is complemented by sleek silver motif, slightly impressed onto the cover of the laptop. The glossy 17.3 inch screen also looks fantastic, both on and off with impressive High definition graphics.
The white keys also offset nicely against the surrounding simplistic design. The only problem as a man I have with the aesthetics of this product is the surroundings to the touch pad they are a strange glossy glittery white - not nice.
This laptop is huge, rather cumbersome but oh so powerful it is rather similar to a corvette. They are fantastic at home, and sound gorgeous when they are ticking over however you would never in your right mind take it out onto the road (I.e. travelling). And that is exactly the case with this laptop the whole 6gb of ram is fantastic for internet searching, downloading, graphically producing/ enhancing or altering and literally anything you can think of bar travelling. It is simply too heavy and too large to carry around. I have tried it on several occasions and it just does not work.
It runs on Windows seven operating system which is extremely simple and extremely rewarding to use. As the advert says "windows seven is my idea" and it is true Windows seven offers so many things to make your life more simple, if that is the chance to put sticky notes all over your desktop to make sure you remember the 401 things you were told to remember by your mum, son, daughter or most probably wife/ partner you can do so. Organisation is not one of those things where you have to sit and wait for the computer to chug through it all - it is effortless, efficient and time saving, it is fantastic...
Overall the spec is very, very good for the price with a huge memory, fast processors, lovely to use massive HD screen and windows 7 it really is a dream to work on - at home.
I would highly recommend for those looking for a home laptop where the only transport of the laptop is from an upstairs room to a downstairs room, however those who are looking for a laptop on the go I would suggest either a powerful netbook (with at least windows seven or a 1.8ghz processor) or similar Sony laptops with a screen size less than 15 inches.
This review is also on my ciao:) x
The name Sony speaks for itself. The company is synomous with good quality electrical products. I usually buy Sony and was looking for a new entertainment laptop and turned to this one. Got this laptop recently. It looks great and the HD screen is brilliant. Its really fast with 6gb of ram and with the white keyboard it looks great. Only problem is that like most sony laptops I have found that their screen/hinges for the screen arre not built very well and can be very fragile. In the past i have broken two screens and that was being very careful with them But again with this one. just one knock of the screen and it was busted. It is a great laptop but you have to be very careful when carrying it about. That is the only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5, otherwise a great laptop.
Aesthetically pleasing as well as having great performance, so exactly what is expected with SONY products.
For a laptop with a 17.3" screen it actually feels small, alot of laptops with this sized screen sacrifice portability but I think this one overcomes that.
This Laptop is easily one of the best I have ever used.
First of all windows 7 is great, it's alot quicker than previous versions of windows making everything alot easier.
It's core i5 processor is very powerful (for a laptop processor) and this along with 6GB RAM makes this computer more than capable of running most programmes with ease.
It also has a built in graphics card by AMD which is also fairly powerful, you will be able to run recently released games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops at mid/high settings.
Unfortunately it's 320GB hard drive is quite limiting and you really wont be able to get much on it, other products for this price have around 500GB of disk space and there are a few with 1TB so if you have alot of information you need to save, this computer isn't the best (that being said a portable hard-drive will do the trick).
I Rate this product: 8/10
I have to admit that I'm more of a desktop person myself but as I travel to and from university by train I figured this would be great to catch up on work...or to kill myself Russians on COD :)
Out of the box I was a little suprised at just how small the Sony Vaio was. Don't get me wrong, it looked a tad small in the picture, but I was suprised non the less. This is my first time using Windows 7 and I pleasantly suprised at all the new additions that have been added. My desktop is a fast computer with 2gb of ram but I just can't get over how fast the Sony Vaio is, especially when running World of Warcraft and COD. The built in bluetooth hasnt come in handy much so far but I do record numerous videos on my phone so I can myself using it more in the future.
Now onto the bits that I REALLY liked. The blu-ray!! I love it. I've never had the luxury of HD before but went straight to my local store and picked up Independance Day on Blu Ray! I was impressed at how well everything looked. My own quibble on this part of the notebook is that the screen is a bit smaller than I'm used to. And speaking on HD, I have to say I'm very impressed with the graphics card! World of Wacraft never looked as good as it should do on my desktop but it looks beautiful on this laptop, just in time for the expansion.
Now onto the bits that I REALLY hated. The buttons. For me having great buttons on the keyboard is a must as my fingers are a tad chubby to say the least. Its far too easy for me to make a mistake and I swear I'm going to wear out the backspace button at this rate.
But overall a great little appliance that I'll probably get a good 3 years out of.

On first impression, you get the feel that this laptop is not just your average work laptop. This is possibly one of the best look laptop in production today. It practically shines and looks very flashy. However, don't let this fool you. Underneath the glamour of it all is a strong and stable machine.
The basic specs of this laptop is that it runs on a i5 - 430 processor with 6GB ram, which in itself is rather impressive. Hard disk space is mediocre at 320GB, but with many affordable alternatives to storage today, this isn't a problem. The device also comes loaded with Windows 7.
Entertainment wise, it is a brilliant laptop to own. Firstly you get a 17.3' widescreen monitor which you can watch movies or play games on to great effect. Team this up with an Radeon HD graphics card and a Blu-Ray disc drive, you can spend endless hours on this baby. I tried this laptop on games such as Call of Duty and there was very few glitches and the game ran smoothly for the most part.
I found that some other reviews mentioned its poor battery life. I must echo this as on average usage it will not last you more than 2.5 hours. So if you're on the go, be sure that your laptop is fully charged or you bring the adaptor.
Looks wise, it is one sexy laptop. There is a touch screen on the keyboard and it is one of the few laptops in the market that are white in colour adding a very 'Sony' feel to it.
Overall, a good laptop to own to show to your friends. It is a tad pricier than other models with similar specs. So if you're going for performance instead of looks, you may want to shop around for a model with better features that give you value for money.
All the products of Sony are good color combination. This model has Fast processor, good level of RAM for the price, decent hard disc capacity, clear screen. Pre-loaded software not oo burdensome. It has nice large screen with easy to use keyboard and includes a number pad. It has only three USB ports so you may need an extra hub if like me you want to attatch a mouse, a printer and a memory stick at the same time.
I received the Sony Vaio VPC-EC2S0E as a gift and have so far enjoyed the computer. The good things about it are that it runs smoothly, it has enough power and memory to play demanding games, the keyboard is easy to type with and it has a sleek design and is just overall aesthetically pleasing. The computer has a glitter effect inside, belowe the keyboard and around the touch panel. It is really "blingy"! The massive screen makes it great for playing computer games and it has Bluetooth as well. The cons are that on full power, the battery will run out in about 2 hours, also it is not the most portable of laptops due to the large 17" screen but I guess you kinda have to expect that. The last con is that it only has three USB ports, so you may need to purchase an extra hub if you need to attach things like a memory stick or printer or even a mouse. Other than that, it's a very fast and very good computer and I would recommend it.
The Sony Vaio E Series, including this one, is the first entry of Sony Entertainment for a regular priced notebook, especially with its popularity of producing a laptop with the price of an Apple Computer.
Considering the Intel Core i5, a 6gb RAM and a grand entertainment provided by the mid class graphic card Radeon HD 5470, in case if you want to play some games that is, and all of that at price of a mere £500. Also, don't forget that it has a "VAIO" branding on top of it. The graphic card will overall play most of the newest games with low to mid settings.
A grand estate of 17.3" must not be forgotten for buyers with movies in mind. I would also remind that playing at the native resolution, 1600x900, might give some lags.
For bragging rights (of course, who wouldn't brag by using a comparable laptop to the macbooks?). I myself would suggest an external speaker as laptop speakers, in my opinion is junk. Battery life gives an use of 2 hours, approximately in power saving due to the powerful graphics, processors as well as the screen. I would not recommend to bring this laptop without a charger in your hands. For buyers who want to spend their time with their laptop unplugged throughout the day, I am sorry to say that this is not your laptop.
Screen is awesome by the way, sony quality guaranteed! Best screen I have ever seen since the Alienware RGB LED screen.
All this with windows 7 HP already installed, go figure!
It's a great product from Sony with a new series, with the great RAM and another. But in the computer space have a bad. Maybe it's standart for a laptop or notebook, but it's not satisfied buyer because now we download everywhere and we need a more space for a laptop and the real great feature is a blue ray Disc Player, it's is a great feature for a newest laptop, why we need a blue-ray Disc Player, because we must get a high resolution when we watch a movie.
In multitasking this is a real good. It's very good work, with Core i5 is the great work. Like i say before for a display vaio show a good progress, with the widescreen TFT and 1600 x 900 resolution it's very satisfied. But, sometimes, i feel not comfort to bring that, because it have a big screen. But all about that is good.
Have had the Sony Vaio E Series VPC-EC2S0E/WI for about 3 months and I have to say its one of the best computers i've ever used, very stable and not slow at all has alot of neat features like movie maker a built in music program and games I'd recommend this computer to anyone whos interested in gaming it has a good amount of ram and hard drive space the graphic card is supreme feels like your sitting in a movie theater watching a movie xD the battery last around 6 hours from 100% so I'd definitely buy this again if I had to buy another computer thumbs up sony for another great masterpiece.
The Sony Vaio E Series (VPC-EC2S0E/WI) is an extremely attractive laptop, but it is a little over-priced. The Sony Vaio E Series hasn't been released long in the UK and I have only had it for a month, although I use it almost everyday. The best feature of this laptop is the 'chiclet' keyboard which makes touch typing easier and faster. If you do a lot of typing you will definitely notice the improvement!
The biggest problem with this laptop is the battery life which was about three hours when I first bought it, but is already only about two hours after only one month.
Visually this laptop looks brilliant and the display is fantastic. It easily handles all the tasks I want to do, which is mostly surfing the internet and word processing but I think it may be more than I need. I could have got a cheaper laptop that would have been able to do everything I needed.
If you want a beautiful laptop that is super fast, or you use lots of applications then this is a brilliant laptop.
