I had a virus on my laptop a while back and decided that I needed a replacement very quickly as I have to have a laptop. I didn't have a huge budget though so I had to have a look around a number of websites before I made a decision but I knew that I wanted a Sony Vaio after reading the specifications as for the money being paid this particular model looked the best. I had seen this priced quite expensive when looking on websites which is why when I came across this on Amazon for a fantastic price, and only 1 left in stock I had to snap it up.
This laptop has a very sleek and modern appearance it has a silver lid with the words Vaio across the top. It has an isolated keyboard inside with white keys and it has the power switch. It closes up and down and has no catch which I like as it makes it a lot easier to open up. The side has your usual USB ports and ethernet connection as well as a memory card reader and CD-ROM at the front. It has a built in webcam at the top of the monitor and there is a wireless switch on the front as well as being a 15.5" screen which is quite big but average on most models. Lastly, it has a microphone and headphone jack at the front also to make life easier for plugging in earphones.
SONY VAIO EE3E0E
This laptop has a very good specification range, it comes with built in Windows 7 Home Premium which I find easy to navigate around and so far have had no problems with. Every piece of software seems compatible enough and having always had Windows laptops, this was very straightforward for me to use. It comes with 3GB of RAM which means the laptop moves a lot faster when playing videos etc so is always a very fast speed which is handy if you want to watch DVD's or open a lot of programs. It has a 2.2GHz memory speed again which means it has a fast processor speed which is again good considering what other laptops I've had in the past have. It has a 320GB hard drive, again a more than adequate amount of storage, I doubt I'll ever use it all up but it is great to know it is there.
The laptop comes with built in speakers and microphone, the audio quality is very good on this laptop, it's not the best but it goes loud enough and there is the option to plug in speakers if you watch a lot of films on it. Also for using this laptop for Skype it is perfect the inbuilt webcam is sharp and is a 640 x 480 webcam and it picks up fast movement and has a really clear picture as well as playing video feed just as clearly back. The microphone does work well in picking up sound but sometimes have had people I'm on Skype with say they can't hear me that well so you do find you are speaking very closely to the laptop sometimes to ensure that you are heard.
Now, after having listed most of the specifications above, I now want to explain what I personally about having used this laptop for the past few months. There are 4 x USB ports on this laptop which is enough for me to go on, it always detects USB plug ins instantly when I plug in a memory stick and installs drivers instantly ie. digital cameras, scanners and other pieces of hardware. I have played a number of films on this laptop as well as streamed through BBC Iplayer etc, and they never stick when watching but play smoothly and I never have problems with videos freezing on me, they just seem to play with ease. If using this laptop on a surface it does heat very quickly so it is advisable to use a laptop rest to stop it from overheating and it will be fine.
It isn't a very heavy laptop and is of medium weight so it isn't bad for transporting about. It has a long cable for plugging in so you can shorten it by wrapping the velcro wrapper around it but I find it stretches quite far. The battery life on this laptop is about 2 hours, it isn't the longest but better than some. However, if you are on the internet constantly it will use up the battery a lot faster than normal usage. You can easily adjust brightness by using the keys on the laptop to do so and it works very well. In terms of the memory card reader it is made for a standard SD card but I have a plug in USB memory card reader which I prefer to use.
The wireless button is great for picking up connections and I have never had any problems with it picking up connections. To turn it off is very easy to do so if you want to remain offline. I think this keyboard is fantastic on this as it is just like a Mac being an isolated keyboard and that mean all keys are spaced out to make typing easier so that you are not hitting other key and I really do think that it works well. It makes typing comfortable and I think it just looks a alot nicer too. The monitor is the right size and the colours show up really well which is good as it has a really sharp resolution.
I really do not have a bad word to say about my Sony Vaio EE3E0E, it is most suited for students on their first laptop or those who want something with good features who don't want to pay too much. For the price, it is reliable, a modern design and it performs to a high standard. This is the second Sony Vaio I have now had and I feel that they are a trustworthy brand and that you get what you pay for, quality. It may not be the best laptop for playing music etc. but for typing and internet browsing and more it really does work very well and I have no negatives to say.
I bought my Sony Vaio from Amazon directly and paid £400 which is a good price considering some places have this listed for double that. Amazon are currently selling this new for £799.99
