Most of applications can run smoothly. Also, even the latest games titles like Dragon Age: Origins or Battlefied: Bad Company 2 can be played smoothly, thanks to the brisk Core i3 , one of the fastest processor for laptop. Initially, I have to get used with the island-style keys keyboard but after short time it works pretty well. The response from the keys feel a little soft and mushy at first, but I soon adjust. Separate numeric pad is a big plus. There are a few things to consider before buying this laptop : - Very weak battery life (often less than 2 hours) which is typical Sony Vaio s problem. - Display screen has only small viewing angles and low contrast. - ...

with dirt. Sony were quick to identify and send someone to fix this problem. It was probably my own fault although i have never had this problem with any other laptops in the past. The one negative is my battery is awful. I don t know if i got a faulty one but it literally lasts 20min max, when it was brand new it was lasting 1hr or so. Luckily even when traveling i never have to use battery power as trains,planes etc now have power sockets, BUT if i was for any reason forced to try to run on battery power, this laptop on the current battery would be literally useless to me. If you intent to use it on just battery i would suggest upgrading to the extended life battery ...
