Having bought this laptop as a replacement for my Sony Vaio VGN-AR31M I was left feeling somewhat disappointed to begin with. The main cause for this was the fan noise. My previous Vaio is almost silent in comparison. Admittedly the Intel Core i7 processors do run hotter than core 2 duos, but I would have thought Sony would have given some customisation of the fan settings. However, I did get used to the noise after a while - except when CPU intensive applications are running, then it s just horrible. On the plus side the F11S1E is laid out pretty well.
