A fantastic laptop, which has stood the test of time! I'd recommend a Sony VAIO to anyone!

I have had this laptop for 5 and a half years and was given the laptop as a gift from my parents before I moved away to university. To my surprise the laptop lasted throughout all 4 years of university and is still going strong to this day!!

The laptop features a 15.4" widescreen display running a max resolution of 1280x800, integrated wireless/lan, cd/dvd-rw drive, 128mb (shared) nvidia graphics card, integrated sound from intel, 1gb of RAM and an 80GB hard disk drive.

The laptop has survived through numerous knocks, overheating, being carried around and agressively handled in a laptop bag and even spills directly onto the keyboard, and there isn't even a single dead pixel on the screen which shows astounding build quality.

The laptop throughout the 5 and a half years of use has performed fantastically well for a variety of purposes; using office applications, photo and image editing, listening to music, watching films/video (some in HD), streaming video from the internet, browsing the internet, developing code in numerous languages and completing coursework assignments. The laptop handles all of these tasks effortlessly and the only area I noticed that the laptop falls short is when it is used for the purposes of gaming.

The graphics card is not powerful enough for playing graphically intensive games which require significant 3d rendering and the 128MB of nvidia memory is shared memory (uses the RAM), the graphics card only actually has 32mb of dedicated memory. Another issue I had with the laptop was short battery life, the battery which after 4 years is now completely dead and no longer holds a charge only ever lasted for a maximum of 1 and a half hours. Which actually turned out to not be a problem for me as I always had a power source available when needed.

The laptop is still fully functional, it shows signs of wear and tear on the keyboard but still has all its keys, and after a recent format still has the performance capability it had on the first day I had purchased it. It can play 1080p HD content smoothly with no judder, freezing, or artifacts. Runs almost every application without too much effort with the exception of games (as mentioned earlier). The design of the laptop is very slim and sleek and was the envy of all my friends when I had first purchased it especially as it was from the premium VAIO series. At the time of purchase this cost £1100 and I can genuinely say that it was money well spent, a quality product which really has stood the test of time. I would definitely recommend the VAIO series to friends and in fact my brother has also now bought himself a VAIO laptop which will no doubt also give him many years of productive use and enjoyment.
