      Disadvantages

      Good for use at home

What a laptop!, reliable and fast, and has such a big harddrive considering its size. The screen seems massive when you open it and the memory is very good. But i don't seem to have my dvd writer running for some reason. It just doesnt seem to be able to finalize the disc properly so be wary. In terms of use, i've never had a problem with it, be sure to clean or defrag the hard-drive quite regularly before anything bad happens to it, i.e. the blue screen of death, which is what i got after 2 years! Mobility of this laptop is not as easy as others due to its big screen but, as a tool to use round the house its good. Now for the bad part, the battery life, you need to keep it connected to the mains, otherwise if will be dead in about 15mins, i kid you not. If its mobility you're after dont buy this, if its a cheap laptop you want to keep in one place, this is for you. It also looks very cool.

Due to not being brand new product, price cheap for such a good laptop!

Got given this laptop as a birthday present before leaving for university. It has been nothing but reliable for over 2yrs now, quick start up and shut down. As well as, running all necessary programs required for studying at university, such as, Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Its not too shabby on the games front even, as now plays the new championship manager although its two years its elder.
I have one complaint after 2 years of use and this is that it could do with more RAM, however, it is upgradeable too 2GB. I have recently brought a 1gb of RAM for my laptop, which has upgraded it too 1.5ghz. The difference is noticeable and am now awaiting the delivery of another 1GB of RAM. Installation is easy, simply unscrewing the back compartment and sliding out the already existing RAM, and replacing it with the newly brought RAM.
In conclusion another great product from Sony, looks stylish(mines white) and runs amazingly well even after 2yrs! If thinking about buying, would recommend upgrading the RAM to deal with the newer operating systems available. BUY BUY BUY! :)

      Never buy Sony.

I bought this laptop a couple of years ago now and had a problem free experience for about 18 months. It was a good laptop to commence with - speedy and efficient. As soon as the warranty period was over however the problems seemed to commence.

The main problem was the screen went really dark. It turns out I needed a replacement part called an LCD invertor. Sony said they would replace it for me but it would cost almost half the value of the laptop to get it done and I would need to send it to them and it could take a few weeks. I ended up spending £40 and buying one from ebay - it took a week to arrive from America- but it worked - at least for 4 months until it broke again and I had to buy another replacement.

The power cable now does not charge properly and you have to angle the plug at the back of the laptop at a certain angle to get it to charge properly.

My dealings with Sony were a dreadful experience and they have tainted me against them. Their post-purchase help desk was awful - so now I no longer buy Sony - ever.
