Great at first, but 18 months later and I'm a little disappointed

Sony Vaio NS20E/S
Advantages: Good build quality, good battery life
Disadvantages: Encountered technical issues just after warranty expired
I bought this laptop in June 2009. It is the 3rd laptop I have had, with my previous laptops being a Fujitsu Siemens and an Acer. Both of my previous laptops have not lasted more than a couple of years each and I really wanted to spend that little bit extra to get one that would last. I ultimately bought this laptop on the basis of the Sony brand, despite my IT geeky friends saying it's not worth paying the extra for the name!
Anyway, at first I was blown away at how much quicker it was compared to my old Acer and was impressed with the design, especially robustness. However, just after I'd had it for a year (coincidentally after the warranty expired) I started having various 'technical difficulties'; things like not always connecting to my wireless network (despite other devices connecting without problems) and the external monitor display not working. Being not particularly IT minded, I haven't managed to resolve this issues (despite trying various suggestions found by searching online) and to speak to a Sony support operative, you have to phone a premium rate telephone number when out of warranty - a joke!
I'm still using this laptop and I must say one thing I am still impressed with is the battery life, although I have looked after this laptops battery much better than for previous laptops. But I wouldn't buy a Sony again.
Summary: A decent laptop but will not last as long as I hoped when I purchased it.
