Advantages: Good Keyboard, Very Aesthetic

Disadvantages: Resolution is to big, Track point mouse takes alot of getting used to, VERY EXPENSIVE

This Sony Vaio is a...Pretty piece of equipment. It is designed to look good, I remember the first time I saw it I thought Wow, if it works as well as it looks its worth the price tag. I'm sad to say that it doesn't and it certainly wasn't worth the £999 it cost at the time, it still isn't worth the £793 that is displayed as the best price that dooyoo can find.

The main Problem with it is the screen, although very bright and clear, sony have made the resolution to big, at 1600 x 768 this makes the standard text size almost impossible to read from a sensible distance.

Another problem is the track point mouse, it is good for it's type but for most people that doesn't mean much. I struggle to understand why the designers didn't include a touch pad as it would increase usability and allow for a larger screen without compromising much on the look.

Another relatively minor problem is that it attract fingerprints and smears on the black parts of the case. I wouldn't be surprised (though I haven't tested this) that after putting it in an airtight box spotless you would find fingerprints all over it when you took it out.

The only other problem that I have had is the power switch. It is located in just the wrong place for people that use their right hand to move with the mouse so when you drag your hand back it is very easy to knock the switch and, because it is quite sensitive it is relatively easy to send the computer to sleep.

However all these points are bad points and the That is certainly not everything there is to say about this netbook. One of the great parts of the machine is its keyboard it is leagues above the other netbook we have in the house. I have to say that it is probably the keyboard that determined the size of the computer and the designers just found a screen to fit with it.

The screen is great (other than the resolution issue mentioned above) and it has all the current gizmo's associated with modern portable computers, oh and that's another point, it really is ultra portable.

One very good feature of this netbook is the ability to turn on all of the communications features (Bluetooth GPRS etc) from a toolbar on the desktop.

One final point that I will make is that the battery life is not brilliant, you can probably squeeze 3 hrs out of a single charge if you are careful.

Summary: Overall this is a good netbook, however it is not worth the price they are asking for.

If you don't like the screen resolution, change it!

That's a lot of problems for such an expensive machine!
