I'm really pleased I bought this. I was uncertain about buying online as I've always bought computers in shops before and had them set up for me. This came really quickly (ordered Thursday night, came on Saturday morning before 10am) and it was really simple to set up.
I've generally found it to be pretty decent with only one issue which is the really annoying and difficult to use touchpad. The problem is that the two "mouse" buttons are integrated into the pad itself, rather than being separate. This means that the very act of clicking often nudges the pointer so you end up clicking in the wrong place!
Unfortunately this makes using the touchpad very frustrating as you're constantly clicking in the wrong place. When I'm at home I use the laptop at my desk with a USB mouse and keyboard (somewhat defeating the purpose of having a laptop).
Aside from the touchpad issue I've generally been pleased, no other issues to report. 14" is readily portable and the build quality is fine. Windows 8 has been covered at length elsewhere - my view is that it has some good points (setting up internet connections is particularly slick) but the artificial distinction between "programs" (accessed via the desktop as in all previous versions of Windows) and "apps" (accessed via the new start screen) is unnecessary and illogical. I've spend the last two months trying to make the laptop look and behave as much like Windows XP as possible, and I'm pretty much there now.
The only other point is mine came with Windows 8 installed and I had to do the upgrade to 8.1 myself. I did this from the Windows store but that has totally confused the pre-installed VAIO Update and VAIO Care programs which I've now had to uninstall to stop them constantly telling me to update drivers which are already up to date! What I should have done is follow these instructions, although there was no way for me to know that at the time...
The best thing about it is the look and feel of it; it is very pretty and also quite light. It's a pleasure to use; a lot of people seem to have issues with Windows 8 but I actually like it! It does look a bit mad once you first see it, but what I like about it is that you have the option to unpin and uninstall the apps you don't like, move things around and turn off the live tiles if they irritate you, so you can really make it your own.
The only little niggle I have is that the internet disconnects out of the blue sometimes. I have always fixed this using the troubleshooter option, so it's not a massive problem, but it is quite annoying.
Apart from that, everything works beautifully. It is a lovely computer and I would recommend it.
