Sony Vaio V505DP ... superior performance, graphics handling and battery life. The PCG-V505DP incorporates the latest Intel Centrino technology for optimum speed, enhanced power saving and high-speed wireless communications. Yet despite being packed with these and other advanced features like fast CD-RW and potent ATI Mobility Radeon accelerated 3D graphics, the machine is extremely portable. Because the V505DP is engineered with the most up to date Intel Centrino technology, it supports the 802.11g wireless networking standard. This is an excellent Laptop aimed at office/student productivity than anything else, and is well suited to these applications. This laptop is ideal for tasks such as word processing, desktop publishing, as well as various other office tasks. If you're after a gaming machine however, this isn't the tool for the job. This is due to the relatively slow 850MHz processor (as I type this, you could buy a laptop with a 3GHz (3000MHz) processor), accompainied by a reasonable 512MB RAM, although this can be upgraded to 384MB (for a cost, obviously). This laptop has a shared video memory configuration, which means there is no dedicated memory for the sole purpose ...

I've found this an excellent computer. I move around a lot so I wanted something light and slim. However it's also great on power - it has windows 2000 and 128 SDRAM. I looked long & hard before settling on the Z600 to replace my Vaio 505SN (PII 400). Compared with the other 'super compact' models I looked at from Toshiba, Sony, Asus etc - the Z600 felt streets ahead on build quality. As with my 505SN the magnesium case gives a solid, high quality feel without actually making the unit heavy! The mains transformer is larger than my previous Vaio. It is considerably heavier too. The DC power connector is now more substantial and less fiddly to connect which has to be a plus. Toshiba have a model of a similar size to the Z600LEK / HEK which has internal DVD, but IMHO the Sony is miles ahead on build quality. On-board ...
