Excellent machine for work and web browsing

I use this laptop for work and it is extremely lightweight and portable. I actually carry it around in my handbag (admittedly quite a large one!) rather than having to carry the heavy laptop bag that I needed for my previous computer. It has a sleek design and brushed metallic casing which give it a very appealing appearance.

I have not managed to damage the casing so far but the power cable does get trapped between the keyboard and the screen on occasion and if you were to close the machine when this has happened it does look like it could be easily damaged due to the thinness of the screen.

I have had it for approximately six months now and have had no problems with reliability. The battery life is good, although the warnings that it gives when the battery is running low are often not long enough to find my power supply and therefore the system hibernates. However, the system resumes much more quickly than my previous computer so this is a minor inconvenience.

The main drawback with the machine is the lack of DVD drive, which means that a lot of the old software that I have was difficult to install and it is not very much use for entertaining my children on long car journeys! It works well with an external DVD drive but if you need to carry this around it detracts considerably from the portability.

I found it hard to get used to the keyboard, which is much smaller that I was used to and it has reduced my typing speed. I also find myself hitting the home button when typing quickly rather that then backspace button and this has resulted in me inserting text into random parts of the document I am working on if I am not looking at what I am typing. The keyboard lights up when in use which is great when using it in the dark but the lights go off quite quickly when you are not typing so if I pause to think about what to type next I can't see the keys when I am ready to continue.

Overall I would definitely recommend it for work and web browsing but it would not be very much use as purely an entertainment machine due to the lack of DVD drive.
