The Toshiba L40 seems to come in a variety of different models, each with different specs within the same outer casing. I have what seems to be the lowest end model, which on paper is just about good enough to run Windows Vista. The build quality of this laptop is reasonably good, with no bit s falling off and it all appearing to be in one (relatively) solid piece. Having a 15.4 inch widescreen display, which is common in laptops nowadays, means that this is by no means a portable machine, although Toshiba appear to have tried to reduce the size with no overly large border around the display which would add unnecessary bulk. I purchased my T Toshiba Satellite in 2007 for just under £600, and it s still in use. I had previously owned a Toshiba Satellite and I m impressed by the quality of Toshiba s hardware, so I wanted to replace my older model with something similar. What I like best about this laptop is the layout. The dimensions are good, with a generously sized screen, and an attractive silver facing. It has an inbuilt CD/DVD player and write drive and is wi-fi enabled. On the downside, the keyboard has almost worn out (though I am a very heavy user!). (cost £380). The Laptop came with 1gb of ram and had windows vista home premium installed. Had to install an additional 1gb ram as it ran painfully slow. The extra 1gb of ram made all of the difference and I would recommend anyone who has one of these to do the same. Has got 3 USB ports which is pretty much standard these days. ...
