Advantages: Copes well with Word Processing
Disadvantages: "Plasticy", Prone to Overheating, Poor TFT Display, Poor Battery Life
~Who Should Purchase this Laptop~
This laptop should only be purchased if you plan to use it exclusively for word processing and surfing the web.
~Who Shouldn't~
If you require a laptop with any multimedia capabilities what-so-ever, for image/video editing or games. The 256MB can cope with little more than the web browser and clock. The 1.4 GHz Celeron M processor does not have enough power to deal with heavy applications
~Problems~
The build quality is poor. Made entirely from a very cheap feeling plastic (inc. laptop hinges which become weak very quickly) the Equium L10 provides little in the way of an esthetically pleasing experience to the eye or finger tips.
The TFT screen is viewable only from dead straight on as the image fades at the edges as a result of the cheap screen technology in use. Watching DVDs on this laptop has induced a headache with practically everyone that has used it.
Battery life is also below par. It quickly looses it ability to hold maximum capacity and if you decide to add an external wireless card to the laptop, the battery will last 45mins max.
One of the most frustrating design faults with the L10 is that the cool air intake fan is on the base. This means that when the laptop is sitting flat to the table (as It should be) the air flow is vastly reduced and actually results in half the chassie become hot to the touch. Very poor product design.
~Conclusion~
I'd advise that you save your money and purchase more costly laptop to ensure you are still satisfied with your purchase months down the line.

Coxy1974 - 01/03/07 I've had a Toshiba Laptop for the last 3 years and I'm still very happy with it. I use mine to run all Microsoft Office software, games, play music and watch DVD's when I'm away from home. Still products do vary in quality so maybe I've been lucky! |
