Toshiba Satellite L350D-10S

Rating:
I got this Toshiba free from my mobile broadband provider (3) when signing on for another two years. As I had just broke the screen on my last one, I was happy enough to pay a little extra every month. This laptop is quite big, but slim. Having a 17" screen means there is room for a separate numeric keypad, which I never had on a laptop before, and is a godsend for work purposes. It is quite stylish and once I had ripped off all the silly Toshiba and Vista stickers I was quite happy to open it up on the train or in the airport. Built in WiFi means I can take advantage of free internet in a growing number of places, and I have found this useful on the odd occasion ...

I have had this Laptop for around 18 months now and it has had to go for repair once due to a problem when the computer kept crashing about 5 times a day. We did think there was a loose connection with the power lead and taping up the leads at the back did help a bit for a while. When the laptop came back from repair they said they had replaced the power lead connection and fan and given the machine a clean out. Since then I have not had the fault with the laptop crashing anymore. Generally this laptop is heavier then my last laptop which was an Acer and it is quite big being a 17 inch screen. I would say if you do a lot of travelling then this model could be too heavy ...

I bought the Toshiba L40 almost two years ago from PC World, I needed a laptop which was suitable on all specifications, RAM, reasonable hard drive space, decent video card and a good battery life. On paper and recommended by staff the outstanding applicant was the L40, it also looked good and felt robust. It became my primary laptop for over 18 months after which (from no fault of the laptop itself) screen failure and problems with the fan led me to search for a replacement. First up, the speed of the laptop was very important to me, so this is where I will start. Speed On paper the L40 has decent enough specs, good processor, 1gb RAM, though mine did come with Vista ...
