when you are finding a new laptop as same as your requirements.it will very difficult to do. but sometimes a easy guess will be the answere. when i have bought this i was thinking it will be a simple like other laptops . but when i got this laptop and trying to do things in it like play games .editing .playing movies.in this price thosiba is giving 8 gb ram thats gud in its own way. it was very good at these things .and a very good thing about this laptop is its waight is just 2.3 kg.this is like i am not taking laptop with me am taking a book.but one thing i dont like is windows 8 its very annoying when it comes to its metro interface but its dosnt matter for most of peoples. but its costomer service is very nice. i preffer any one to buy this laptop .also the service mens arevery friendly on my view.
I was provided with this laptop by work, so I wasn't given a choice on what product I got - but if I had the choice in future I would definitely get a Toshiba laptop again.
The speed is fantastic, meaning you are able to multitask without the performance being affected and also the storage is quite significant, meaning I was able to store both work and personal items.
The built in webcam and microphone meant I was able to dial in for conference calls rather than have to physically attend meetings.
Although this laptop was provided for work purposes, it was also great for entertaining me on long commutes to work. It includes a built-in DVD Rewriter and allows for seamless video playback.
The overall style is tasteful and elegant and more importantly light weight. The high definition LCD screen is the perfect size.
The only downside, and some people may disagree with me here, is the battery life. I am quite demanding when it comes to time, so I may perhaps be expecting miracles from technology rather than being realistic.
I would say that this laptop is perfect whether you are computing from home, work or on the go.
Working with this machine for 6 months or so now I seem to have had nothing but problems with this. The battery died fairly quickly - to the point now where i can't run the machine at all without a charger. I didn't even have the machine plugged in constantly while this happened! Another problem which happened quite a lot in the early stages was that the screen would just go black for no reason. The only solution I found for this was the wait for the battery to completely drain and then start up the machine again. This seemed to happen once a month or so for me and it quite often affected my work. Saying all this, when the machine did work it worked well. Very fast machine and it doesn't feel cheaply made to me. Screen Quality is also very good. All in all I wouldn't recommend this machine unless you want to be on the phone to Toshiba for hours a day
I have owned this laptop for several months now and have no issues whatsoever. The overall configuration set up is fairly basic compared to most other laptop I have owned and used, The Toshiba bulletin board has been very helpful when it comes to acknowledging the user of issues and possible future issues. I have had no issues installing additional software or making changes in Command Prompt. The factory memory storage is completely adequate as a college student for school and personal use. I have even partitioned the hard drive to run a completely separate OS (operating system) and still have no operational issues or storage issues. I would definitely suggest this laptop to any basic user. The only thing that I do not like is when I am using the mouse pad on the laptop it is VERY easy to zoom in and out on whatever page you are browsing on the Internet. It's easy to correct, but very annoying.
My old laptop was dying a slow death and I knew it was time to change it and spend out a bit for à expensive new one. So what made me choose this one over all the other laptops on the market? Well firstly you know when buying a Toshiba that this is a recognised and trusted brand who have à lot of users all over the world ,this is also a great computer for all your daily workings, surfing the web, emailing, video chats etc. But what really grabbed my attention was the 8GB RAM that will make sure all my many programmes that I need to run simultaniously, can run smoothly without frozze. This of course is helped by the Intel® CoreTM i3 processor giving speeds of up to 1.9GHz and the 750 GB hard drive will mean I can store ALL my multemedia files in one place! Add this to the SRS premium sound and it was a bit of a no brainer! A fantastic all rounder that I would recommend to anyone. Since i bought this laptop i never got trouble.
At first, having this as a replacement given to me at Christmas, I wasn't at all happy with being given a windows 8 laptop due to not liking the look of it, and being too scared to learn how to use it, however after some persuasion, I took the time to learn to use, and love this laptop!
The laptop is generally a high performance laptop, with great expectations that are exceeded when using it! This laptop gives you handy tips that are quite discreet and can be removed at any time, that allow you to learn to use Windows 8 quickly and efficiently.
The quality of picture on the screen is of a high standard, and has a brightness level indicator, that can be changed, however, even on it's brightest level, it does not create a gleam, but rather accentuates pictures and makes them seem as if they are of a higher quality. This laptop also does not tend to distort pictures, even considering the large screen.
The speed of the laptop is very quick, and does not often freeze or "lag" at all, even when many pages or applications are running at one time. Internet access is also very good (obviously this would depend on your internet access) and you can have multiple tabs open at one time, without the laptop freezing whatsoever, which is a huge plus if you are browsing for things on multiple websites to, for example, compare prices and deals.
The battery life on this laptop is great, and lasts for quite a few hours (enough so that I can browse as much as I need to in the amount of time the battery lasts for). The battery is also reasonably fast to charge up, and the laptop can even be charged while using it, and it still holds the battery for the same amount of hours after being taken off of charge.
The keyboard is very easy to use, and it designed to not have food/dust trapped in between the keys. All the keys are separate to each other, and the laptop also has a number section on the right hand side of the keyboard. The keypad has a checkered-like pattern on it, which is odd to touch, but is very easy to get used to.
The sound system is average when you don't have anything plugged into the laptop, but is immediately given a higher quality when using headphones or speakers that are plugged into the laptop separately.
The laptop costs around £500 generally, which is an average price for a decent laptop, considering the amount of memory you are given for it, also. I think that it is definitely worth the price that you pay for it, due to all of the extras that you can get with it (when I bought this laptop, it came with a free bundle worth £100 that included speakers, and internet security)
-Built in camera (Average quality, but good enough for video call's)
-Built in microphone (Exceptional quality, very crisp sound)
-SD card slot (Hidden discretely on the front of the laptop)
-3 USB ports
I think that overall, this laptop is definitely worth the money that you pay for it. Windows 8 is very simple and easy to get used to, and generally you don't find yourself using it as often as you'd think you would anyway, because you can go to your desktop, which is mainly windows 7, except from your settings bar. I would definitely recommend this to anybody that is looking into getting a handy, lightweight laptop that is durable and of a great, high quality in almost every aspect!
When you are looking for a new laptop we all seem to find a variation of deals and features on a laptop which make us grab that particular model. This laptop is one of those which grabbed my attention.
== The Design ==
This laptop has a great design and to start off I will talk about the overall colour. This laptop has this rather nice metallic finish which in the right light can seem blue and it shines with a stylish glimmer.
Unfortunately the word of the brand Toshiba is located on the lid and dominates that side of the laptop and the inside has the same colour as well.
The buttons are done in a big style and the mouse is grey with little squares on there to help you get a nice grip. If you have a sweaty finger due to excess work this will work well for you.
There is the power connection on the left hand side and the CD/DVD drive is also situated in this location as well. On the right are the USB connections and extra cables to use when you wish to use this laptop on a television.
The back is black which is the same for most laptops and the main issue with the design is the fact that the lid when shut the top of the laptop can scratch very easily. One small object regardless of how sharp it is can cause damage which is very annoying.
== Features ==
This laptop has Windows 8 on there which it should have due to the new aspect of it but Windows 8 is fantastic I love using it and it makes this laptop seem more stylish just by having this program on there.
There is a 750GB hard drive and this sounds to some people small due to bigger hard drives out there for people to obtain but for me this is a good size and with music and pictures I have on my laptop this is a perfect amount for me to have.
This laptop has 8GB ram which is very good and considering my last laptop has 2GB ram and it ran very fast this goes to show how far laptops have come in the last few years.
The battery life is up to 4 hours and this actually is pretty accurate. I was playing games the other day and the battery last 3 hours and 50 minutes so the battery life is impressive.
The processor is an i3 Intel processor which is very good indeed and there is better processors out there but this works very well for this laptop.
The processor speed is 1.9Ghz and I admit this could be much better because this machine has many other great features this perhaps is the one area it does fail on the most.
The screen is 15.6 inches and is not touch screen but does have Bluetooth and speakers built in. The item is heavy at 2.3kg which is kind of heavy but due to the screen mainly the main laptop body does not feel that heavy at all.
== Video Chat and Gaming ==
When you use this laptop you experience new areas and the best part for me is the webcam and video chat feature. When I use my webcam on previous computer the footage is very weak at best. You get that background flashing screen where different lines come down and with this laptop you do not.
I have turned this on and found myself amazed by really good graphics which show a wide range of colours and they try and make it appear that you are with the person you are chatting to and in the same room.
In the dark the problems arise because the webcam cannot make the extra light you need but in terms of what it can offer it does a great job. The volume is good when you speak to other people and I have yet to experience any sort of freezing thus far.
Games are a big part of my life when it comes to games which require plenty of patience and strategy. I am not one of those people who plays war games because they bore me. When I was playing an action game the other day I decided to experiment with this laptop.
I began to download a large file and play music at the same time whilst playing this game. I never experienced any freezing at all and the best part was that the graphics were superb.
The graphics card is not one of those you can find much information about but to the eye the graphics appear to be excellent. I found at times images appeared in 3D and they weren't but due to the depth of colour and the outlines behind some characters it made everything appear much better than it was.
== Using Windows 8 ==
I have to admit this had me stumped when the computer loaded up and everything was different. If you use Tablets you will find Windows 8 is like an app store. Before on previous versions you have a start menu located at the side of the screen but on Windows 8 you have them on all on a different screen.
I think Windows 8 is much more updated and with the times then people sometimes give it credit for. I like this being used with this machine because the video camera or the webcam has its own application and this goes with everything else you install.
If you install Microsoft Office you have all those programs on the one screen and it makes everything look really good and attractive to use. I think the other good point is that with Windows 8 you have more space it appears to do everything.
One of the new features for this Windows 8 is that you do actually have an app store. You have on there an area to download different apps like Youtube, games such as Logo Quiz and many more. You just search and browse and you will find all sorts there to download. There are some which require you to pay for them but there are many which are free of charge.
I like how tidy everything looks with this new operating system and comparing it to older versions it does a great job. If you require help this laptop gives you guidance on how to use Windows 8 and that is the best thing to do if you require assistance.
== Graphics and Speed ==
The graphics are very good for this machine when it comes to images perhaps more so then videos. If you are looking at images from the internet they usually are very good regardless of where you view them due to who took them.
When I take pictures with my camera and upload those images to this laptop the images look very crisp and clear and have amazing detail and look professional. When I look at them on other devices and computers they look lacklustre and without life.
If you are watching a video from Youtube you notice the graphics seem to try and make the video look better then it actually is. This is hard to explain but if you watch a video on this website from over 10 years ago you know the footage is not the best anyway. Yet this laptop attempts to make it appear it is a recent video by enhancing the graphics and it ends up making a slight mess of it.
I like the speed to the laptop when you are going from one screen to the next or application you find the system does this extremely quick sometimes so quick you lose track of where you are.
I think the speed perhaps can slow down if you are trying to upload a few programs at once which I think would be understandable.
== Bad Points ==
There are a few problems to this laptop minor in some ways but important to note. The first problem is the main laptop service is easy to scratch and this is a problem. I had a piece of card which had a sharp point and it slid against the surface and caused a huge scratch.
This is a problem for people who maybe put the lid down and then touch it with a sharp nail or something stuck to a finger or clothing and before you know it you have a huge mark to contend with.
This laptop does not lock shut. The lid on all my other laptops has had a feature where you put the lid down and it clicks into place and locks shut. This would normally shut the computer down and keep information safe and also the keys as well.
This laptop just has the screen shut slightly and it is easy to open if you tip the laptop upside down so this is a problem for people who want to protect the keys.
The CD/DVD drive is a pain to open and it is the worst one in my lifetime I have ever tried to deal with. You can see the drive easily on the left hand side of this laptop and as you go to open it up you have to go searching for the open button.
When you do find it you have to push it in several times for it to open and it is a real pain and so annoying and it gets on my nerves sometimes when you are waiting for a simple drive to open.
== Final Thoughts ==
I think this laptop has some great features the processor is very good and the speed is excellent. I think what helps this laptop sell is that it does look very stylish and unique in appearance but those silly faults mentioned above are mind blowing.
It is easy to sort out the CD/DVD drive in my open and to install a simple lock feature is also very easy yet Toshiba did neither which is really odd in my view.
The laptop has a price tag of around £420 and that is very good in my eyes but this laptop does have silly issues and the machine has excellent memory as well.
