After much searching and review reading, I chose this laptop. I wasn't disappointed! It comes with Windows Vista (which I was a little uncertain of at first, as I'd heard bad reports) and has enough memory and processing power to run the majority of programs. The initial start-up procedure was a little long winded, but that's down to Microsoft I presume as you need to set up Vista with your preferences, etc. Once up and running I installed Office and was soon happily writing in Word. I have these as part of my Job. We tend to downgrade these to XP using a supplied downgrade disc. The laptops are of excellent build quality, and very rarely go wrong. the hard disc has plenty of space, screen is crystal clear, and speed is more than adequate. Battery life is good lasting roughly 2 Hours of constant use before you are needing to recharge. coming with 1GB ram they are more than capable of running most software, as long as your not wanted to play the VERY latest games. I got this laptop as a gift for my 21st and being an Administrator work with a lot of computers on a daily basis. I feel this Toshiba Satellite is by far the best laptop I have worked with so far. I feel it has all the needs and features which I am looking for. It continues Windows Vista which is the most up to date Windows package to date. It is easily connected to internet and is WiFi Certified. It is easily managed and mainted and is not complicated to work. Its has great speakers for sound when this is required on the laptop. I started my search for a laptop to make doing student work easier, as well as to stop squabbling over the home computer; and I absolutely love it. I'll be honest and say I am very fickle.
