Advantages: Weight, processor speed, time of booting from switch on

Disadvantages: Battery life (2 hours!)

Having been attached to my desktop for as long as I can remember, I got a bit of a shock when this was loaned to me by my uni for my work. I asked them for something that did better than the older, smaller laptop, and boy does this deliver!

I'm usually moving about a lot, but when I sit down, I want to get to what I want quickly. Luckily, the Toshiba can run either Vista or have XP installed (the one I'm using is XP Pro) and has a quick load up time in comparison to some of the other laptops I've tried. Usually I can plug it in, turn it on, and it's done by the time I've gone and got my books out ready, or my reading list.

The keyboard is a good size, although some of the buttons are a little close for my speed-typing, but would work for more casual users. Not having a dedicated keypad can be a little frustrating, but it does mean that every single number that's typed in gets checked again, and that's always a bonus.

The laptop is quite small for it's class, with a decently sized screen, and isn't too weighty so it's easy to use on the move, a bonus if, like me, you need more than a netbook to get things done. Also, with the built in wireless, hooking into your home network or other free networks is also simple, put into one or tw oeasy steps by Windows integrated wizard.

All in all, if I wanted to buy a laptop, then I know a Toshibia would be high up my list.

Summary: Neat if you want a good on-the-go laptop
