I have decided to review this laptop for a few reasons, firstly because it's a good honest laptop, that will probably interest many people.
The second and most important is that in this age of technology we are now looking for and developing new laptops that are smaller, look cooler and are more portable than ever before, so this is one of those you would love to own if you need something portable to take on your travels.
This is actually a Toshiba, they are not really that well know for making laptops but are no doubt getting more and more credit with every new laptop they make. I think in the future this company will be a lot better known for making laptops as opposed to TV's as they are at the minute simply because there laptops a so good.
This laptop looks great, its combining of the colours black and silver on its outer case make the laptop stand out against its competitors and look really stylish. Also the black strip of plastic going around the edge of the laptop makes it look a lot sleeker than it actually is, its an optical illusion that tricks the eye and just shows how serious Toshiba actually are about the designs of their laptops.
The built in ram in this laptop is ok, its not really anything special but it will do for most. It has just 1gb of ram, however which can make it seem sluggish when trying to run demanding software which takes quite a while to load, and when trying to play the newest games, this laptop really didn't respond all that well either.
However a solution may be to upgrade the ram. Though this can be very expensive to do, it is a solution to the slow speed problems and if you choose to do so, you will be able to upgrade the laptop to a maximum of 4 gb of ram, which would really improve the laptops speed dramatically.
Its nice however to see this laptop with quite a big hard drive. I would first think, if a laptop only had 1 gb of ram, that it would only have an 80 gb hard drive. However it doesn't, it actually has 120 gb hard drive which is something you'd would expect to see in a laptop with 2 gb of ram, so this is a nice surprise and will defiantly be enough storage space for most people.
Now, this laptop only has a 13.3" TFT, which is really small, however this is something I really like about this laptop. When using it I never got frustrated with its small size and in fact was really easy to use and sit it on your lap and do work and browse the internet on.
It just seems like a laptop that you could have in your home and just take anywhere and use, rather than other bigger laptops that always seem to slide off your lap when your using them because there simply too big.
It only weighs 2 kg as well, which is really light weigh for a laptop, but considering how small it is, this is reasonable. This really is something you could take almost anywhere with you and not worry about it being too heavy or taking up too much space.
In terms of extra features, this laptop has lots, it has a built in 6 in one card reader, which is really easy to use. A built in 1.3 Megapixel webcam, which again is so easy to use as its already installed so no set up is required.
Now for a laptop this portable its price of £600, is really cheap, however for a laptop with ust 1 gb of ram a price of £600 is nearing extortionate. However this wouldn't put me off buying this laptop, it's a great laptop to use and its one of those you just wouldn't get tired of, no matter how small the initial ram is, or how small the screen size is.
The Satellite Pro U300 is a peerless ultra-portable brimming with extraordinary features for its category. Weighing just 1.99 kg, it comes equipped with a brilliant 13.3" WXGA Toshiba TruBrite widescreen display, a built-in webcam for mobile video conferencing and a DVD Super Multi drive for extra data storage and exciting multimedia on the go.
