I have owned Toshiba Tecra M3 since I was in college 3-4 years ago. The laptop is very light and have great hard disk size of 80g. I wouldn't say that this is 100% reliable. Maybe about 85% which isn't bad. On my first year, I had problems with the keyboard not being able to type properly until i brought it to Toshiba using the 3 year warranty. I was told that it wasn't the keyboard that had problems but the motherboard. Toshiba replaced it for free. It happened again on my 2nd year of ownership that it had to be taken back again to Toshiba and said did the same thing again. However, my laptop has been running smoothly ever since that 2nd motherboard replacement.
It has a great bluetooth program but unfortunately, I had to buy a bluetooth dongle and i have to say, I'm not a big fan of having something sticking out of the side of your computer and worry about it getting hit.
Battery wise, a spare would be advisable to have.
I wouldn't advise upgrading this to vista as the memory is only 512mb UNLESS you can add 1-4 gb.
The wifi is very good. I like the quality of the wifi and the wifi program that Toshiba has provided.
I find 512mb slow and would advise that you add more memory to get the maximum performance.
Would I recommend Toshiba Tecra M3? I would recommend Toshiba anytime of day because of the service of the customer service, the quality of laptop is as good as it gets but if you add more memory then great!
