... I purchased this printer it was a £179 bargain. My current HP laser printer had run out of toner (black and yellow) with the others running low, so I was looking at £160 to replace the toners. This was a little extra expense, but for what seemed like a better specced unit. It is a nice compact unit at 400mm wide, 394mm deep and 389mm high. This is one of the most compact colour laser printers I have come across. For the cheap price I was surprised to see Postscript 3 printing language as standard, plus 128MB RAM installed. I added a 512MB sodimm that I had taken out of my MacBook Pro, so got a nice upgrade to 640MB free of charge. Just to let you know, the additiona...

... recently bought one of these, I can say this is a nice budget printer. This coming from someone who doesn t normally recomend HP even though I work in the trade of printers. The item does seem a bit large as the paper tray actually sticks out the back and you cannot push this right up to the wall. The ports are mainly on the side, so are easy to access but there is no printer cable in the box (why do they do that?). Printing should be quiet, but it isn t - it isn t as noisy as any inkjet but seems to be the loudest laser I have heard. Still, you could be on the phone while this prints, that would be no problem. ... full minute. Quality of the full colour text was crisp and very readable, the photographs also showed nice smooth colour transitions and a nice amount of detail, even in the darker areas. The 2550 will accept up to 200gsm paper, which is a thin card, so I decided to test the printer with a different type of paper. I used a 160gsm Mondi Colour laser paper, which has a slight coating or sheen to it and is very high white in appearance. The results on text were not really much different, maybe only standing out on the page a little more. The photographic images were really superb, they just came alive with so much more vibrancy.
