Good buy, but there are better (Brother HL 1440)

The Brother HL-1440 printer is excellent for both home and office use. The reason I bought this was because of printing costs. There are a few bad points to get out of the way first. Firstly, the drivers are really hard to get working in the first place. Second, it is really noisy to start up. Third, the start up time is long. Four, it is quite heavy for a basic laser printer. Now to praise the machine, the printer has excellent economy with the toner lasting a long time. The toner may be expensive, but is long lasting - especially the long lasting high - yeild toner cartridge. The printing speed is good, but not brilliant. One thing to look out for with the printer is the paper in the output tray is pushed out by the next sheet, this is because the printer curls the paper up after it has come out. With USB and LTP interface it should fit any modern computer, with ease. The drivers can easily be fixed by downloading the appropriate fixes. Quality of printing is good, but the toner save mode is terrible all the writing goes so faint you can't even see it! Overall, I say that it is a good budget laser printer, however better ones are availiable on the market, as this model is getting old now.

Summary: Buy it if you will, however take the problems into account because they really are a pain.
