Hp Laser Jet 1200

I am not much of a technical minded person but I do however know what Is good and what is bad for the things I need. This is a printer that sits on my desk at work and to be honest could do with a bit of an upgrade. It is though, perfect for everything that I need at work.

Because this printer is at work and prints a lot faster than my one at home I find myself printing most of my documents at the work place even those things that I should be doing at home, (naughty me). I find this way I use less ink at home and save myself a lot of time because as I say this HP LaserJet 1200 prints a lot faster than my own home printer.

The LaserJet printer takes up rather a large amount of space on my tiny desk at work but because it is one of the most used things on the desk this is of course no trouble to me. I have had this particular printer for a few years and I think when we change premises, which is in the next few months, we will all be getting new equipment and I shall be sorry to see my old printer go.

Of course I myself did not pay for this printer and after doing a little research I found that for a printer such as this you are looking at paying around the £300 mark. This price is for me way too steep if I was going to be using it at home but for the amount of use I get out of it at the office I think this price is a fairly good bargain. It has as well lasted for ages and I have had no problems at all when using it and no repairs or anything have had to be done.

That fact that this printer prints out text documents so fast is really a good thing when at work because that is of course the whole reason for me being at work. My main role is secretary and therefore I am printing out letter after letter and needing them pretty quickly to keep me up together with my workload. Not only does this printer spew out the documents at a fast rate it also does it in relative silence. This is good for not disturbing both the dictation machine, which I need to hear load and clear and also when I am chatting to my colleagues I do not want to have to shout over the noise of a printer and with this HP laser Jet 1200 I am certainly not needing to do that!

The printer at work is only used for text documents and unlike my home printer is no good for photos or things like that. It also only prints out in black and white, which is prefect for the things that I do at work and this does not bother me at all. I have never tried to print any sort of picture with this machine but I am sure that if I needed to a black and white picture, if not a photo would come out at a reasonable standard.

The printer is connected to the computer not by a USB cable but by a rather large computer cable that is able to send all the necessary information through from the computer to the printer quickly and efficiently. I have had no problems with this but it is not me who would set the system up as there are IT people that are only allowed to touch the things like that for fear of us amateurs getting it all messed up. Although I have had a fiddle from time to time and as I see it the printer instillation is fairly straight forward as with most and the on screen instructions literally guides you through the whole process and is easy to pick up and master. Don’t tell the IT chaps that though!!!

Using the printer as a whole is very straightforward and easy and I am sure this printer would be suitable for anyone of any sort of technical mind. I am not too hot on what is good with all the specifications and the like but this is the information on the printer for those of you who this makes sense to:

The printer hardly ever jams up and as I say I have had no real problems with it whatsoever. The ink cartridge is easy to replace and all you have to do is pull out the old one and literally shove in the new one. This is very simple easy and no mess at all is involved. The paper tray that is clearly visible from the front of the printer fits in tons of paper and lasts me a good few days of typing before I have to refill the stack.

One of the best parts of the machine I would say is the envelope tray where you are able to print off envelopes with ease and efficiency. This is the only part that will sometime jam up but once jammed all you need to do is flick down the front cover and the envelope is right there for you to take out and reinsert in the front. The envelopes print easy and quickly and because I do a fair amount of these I really do appreciate having this function.

Overall I would say this printer really is a pleasure to use on a daily basis and for the amount of text documents it must have printed since I have been working with it, it has really lasted well and is still going strong. You obviously get what you pay for and at £300 I think this office printer is well worth every penny. It is efficient, quiet and very speedy. I can’t see any problems with it at all and for office use I think you could ask for no more.

Summary: a great office printer
